(Locals Only) RedSea Coral Pro Salt Bucket

PLEASE READ Locals Only - This product cannot be shipped   *Discounts cannot be applied to this product *This Product does not ship *This Product does not count towards free shipping     Red Sea Coral Pro Salt is a specialty salt mix formulated for today’s advanced reef aquariums. A scientifically formulated marine salt is based on using pure water. This is a necessary to accurately calculate all the elements required to recreate tropical seawater. It is the best way to create a baseline salt formulation that most precisely mirrors the reef environment. Research laboratories and professional aquaculture facilities often use ultra-pure reverse osmosis and deionized mineral-free water for mixing saltwater. Reef aquarists using RO or RO/DI can have this same level of “saltwater perfection” with Red Sea Coral Pro Salt. Coral Pro Salt is intended to stimulate growth of SPS and LPS corals in aquariums and frag tanks. The coral-building process of calcification demands adequate levels of Foundation Elements: calcium, magnesium and bio-available carbonates. These elements play a key role in coral metabolism and growth, pH stabilization and ionic strength of the saltwater. Coral Pro Salt contains the levels of foundation elements and trace elements necessary for coral growth in your aquarium. You won’t have to use additives to “fix” your freshly made saltwater! Here’s what we really like about Red Sea Coral Pro Salt: Accurately formulated for use with RO/DI water Can also be used with soft water pH stabilizes between 8.2 – 8.5 No phosphate or nitrate contamination No need to immediately add extra calcium, magnesium or carbonates Red Sea Coral Pro Salt Mix Features: Long-term testing proves captive corals demonstrate vigorous growth and vibrant colors Formulated specifically for the advanced reef aquarist using purified water Provides the extra foundation elements needed to promote coral growth Proper pH level quickly stabilizes after mixing Manufactured in small batches to ensure all elements are evenly blended throughout the salt mix Contains all trace elements needed for fish and invertebrates The recommended salinity level for reef-building corals is approximately 35 parts per thousand (ppt). At 35 ppt, Red Sea Coral Pro Salt supplies 480 ppm of calcium; the same calcium level required for growing LPS and SPS corals in reef aquariums. The following table shows calcium levels of Coral Pro Salt mixed in RO water for various salinities at 75°F (24°C). Specific gravity Salinity Calcium Quantity of Salt Mix 1.021 30.6 ppt 420 ppm 33.4 g/l 1.4 lb/5 US gal 1.023 32.8 ppt 450 ppm 35.8 g/l1.5 lb/5 US gal 1.025 35.0 ppt 480 ppm 38.2 g/l1.6 lb/5 US gal If you have a marine fish and invertebrate, SPS dominant, or ultra-low nutrient system, consider the standard Red Sea Salt Mix formulation.

  • (Locals Only) Pharma Calcium Chloride 1-Gallon Mix (Single Use)

(Locals Only) Pharma Calcium Chloride 1-Gallon Mix (Single Use)

    5 in stock

Ultra-pure Calcium Chloride for 2-part dosing in your reef tank! Bulk Reef Supply 2-part additives are the perfect solution to replenish the intake of calcium and alkalinity coral consumes when it grows. Using only pharmaceutical based ingredients allows you to keep a cleaner reef with fewer impurities, leading to faster growth and more brilliant coloration of your coral. All BRS additives mix crystal clear and do not leave any nasty residues or brown impurities behind like other calcium and alkalinity additives.  Also Available In 5 Gallon Mix (5 single-use pouches) 10 Gallon Mix (10 single-use pouches) Each pouch is professionally weighed to make 1 gallon of calcium chloride solution that can be used to accompany any dosing method or used with other Bulk Reef Supply additives for an easy to follow system of dosing. The BRS system uses a balanced 1:1 calcium to alkalinity ratio that keeps dosing simple and doesn't require you to be a math wizard. In most cases, the amount of BRS 2 Part Calcium solution you need to dose will match the amount of BRS Alkalinity solution required.  Mixing Instructions - BRS Calcium Liquid Solution Fill a 1-gallon container 4/5 full of RO/DI or distilled water and then add the entire contents of 1 pouch into the container. Secure the cap on the container and shake it for about 10 seconds to help start the dissolving process. Remove the cap and fill the container the rest of the way with RO/DI or distilled water. Give the container a few more shakes and then let it sit until all the salts have dissolved before use.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

(Locals Only) AI - Blade Coral Grow

    2 in stock

Extremely Versatile Mounting, Spectrum, and Sizing Options.. Aquarium Lighting, Your Way! Available in 7 different sizes from 12 to 66 inches Balanced blue and white spectrum optimized for coral photosynthesis Mounting solutions for every tank need Cluster group LED diodes with 95 degree spread  EdgeFieldTM Optics with even PAR and smooth color mixing Minimal shadowing and natural shimmer Great alone, stacked in parallel, or as supplemental fill lighting IP66 Water Resistance Passive, noiseless cooling Smart control via myAI or Mobius apps Low profile Tank Rest included or Mounting Clips included Color Your Way This is far from your typical strip LED! The Blade maximizes color and efficiency, incorporating exclusive EdgeFieldTM Optics to deliver even PAR, smooth color mixing, exceptional 95-degree spread, and a natural shimmer effect in your aquarium. Its wide-angle and modular cluster LEDs allow light to wrap around high points in your tank to provide a smooth blanket of illumination with minimal shadowing. When you combine 3 or more Blade strips together, the result is shadow elimination and even light distribution comparable with traditional T5 fixtures, but with greater efficiency and at a fraction of the cost! You can also use the Blade with any existing light fixtures as supplemental or fill lighting to enhance light coverage and reduce hotspots. Available Color Spectrums: Coral Grow Coral Glow Refugium Freshwater The Coral Grow model brings a powerful and balanced blue and white growth spectrum with output in the deep blue through blue range (400-500nm) to address the photosynthetic needs of corals. Use the Grow for maximum PAR output per foot, and the Glow for maximum fluorescence, or mix them together and get both. Peak performance is best achieved in a 2:1 Grow to Glow ratio, but one of each is perfectly acceptable when less light is needed. Each AI Blade LED Strip includes roughly one light cluster group per foot of fixture length. Tight grouping and balanced diode placement contribute to the incredible balance and shimmer that the Blade platform delivers. The Blade Coral Grow includes the following 24 diodes per cluster group: 12x Royal Blue 6x Cool White 6x Blue Mount Your Way The AI Blade is designed for a myriad of mounting solutions to satisfy any system. Choose from a Tank Rest, Elevated Tank Rest, Hanging Kit, Hybrid Mount, or HMS Adapter Arm to find the perfect mounting solution for your set up. Tank Rest - Included with all Blade lights up to 39", this low-profile mount sits directly on top of your tank and extends up to 4.5 inches on either side of the fixture.  Mounting Clips - Included with all Blade lights over 39", these clips are compatible with the AI HMS Single Arm Mount and HMS Hanging Kit rails. Elevated Tank Rest - An attractive and sturdy tank mount for both rimmed or rimless tanks. The Elevated Tank Rest increases light spread and allows for easier access into the aquarium when compared to the standard Tank Rest. Hanging Kit - Made from high-quality brushed aluminum with a black finish, the Hanging Kit provides an elegant solution for suspending your Blade above your aquarium. The Hanging Kit also allows you to mount 3, 4, or 6 light bars in parallel for increased coverage and streamlined aesthetics. Hybrid Mount - A mounting solution designed to combine Blade strips with one or more AquaIllumination Hydra or EcoTech Radion pendant fixtures. The best of all worlds, rolled into one! Custom Mounting - If none of the above mounting options suit your fancy, the Blade also includes M8 mounting threads at each end, enabling you to easily create a custom mount with endless possibilities.  Control Your Way The Blade LED can be wirelessly controlled via iOS and Android devices on either the MyAi or the Mobius app. With the app, you can customize your spectrum intensity and set custom schedules for each light, or just select from one of the in-app templates available. Both apps can be downloaded for free on Google Play and the App Store. Each Blade LED also includes onboard controls for cycling through spectrums. • (Locals Only) AI - Nero 7

(Locals Only) AI - Nero 7

    2 in stock

The Ideal Submersible Pump for Larger Aquariums-- All Flow, No Compromise Max Flow - 4000 GPH Perfect for tanks 80-500+ Gallons! App control with MyAI or Mobius Compatible with glass thickness up to .79" Compact design - just 3.38" in diameter! Like the Nero 3 & 5, the Nero 7 utilizes an innovative propeller design which creates an adjustable broad flow that is both strong and gentle. The Nero 7 pushes water in a wide pattern that can move foods, detritus, or other free-floating particles around without blasting corals directly. Powerheads have many different uses around a reef tank, but the main goal is to produce enough flow to keep low-flow spots from forming in your tank and help elevate detritus to be sucked into the filtration. Easy App Control The Nero 7 can be conveniently controlled with the free MyAI or Mobius app - your choice! By connecting your pump to the app, you unlock the ability to choose a flow mode and pump speed as well as the ability to create a full-blown daily schedule that cycles through different modes.  No smart device? No Problem! The included controller only has one button but is very powerful. Pressing or holding the button for different lengths of time can change the speed, mode, or turn the pump off or on without having to open the app.  Compatible with MXMNeptune Systems, EcoTech Marine, and AquaIllumination have joined forces to bring MXM to life. Now all your favorite EcoTech and AI pumps and lights can be under the wireless control of Apex & Apex Fusion—the user-friendly, yet powerful, interface you already know and love. No more switching between multiple apps. Flow Modes Random: The Nero 7 will randomly change its flow rate throughout the day simulating a high-energy reef environment. Pulse: Used to create a standing wave in your aquarium. The pulse interval and max flow rate can be changed based on the needs of your aquarium. Pulse is a great method for lifting settled detritus from hard-to-reach areas.  Constant: Set the appropriate flow rate and the Nero 7 will keep flowing at that speed until you change the mode or flow.  Schedule: Using the MyAI or Mobius app, create a schedule that can utilize multiple different flow modes. Feed: Just hold the driver button for 2-5 seconds to put the Nero 7 into feed mode for 10 minutes.  All-Off: Hold the driver button for 6 or more seconds to turn the pump off. Touching the button again will restart the pump.  Magnetic Mounting The included magnetic mounting system makes installing the Nero 7 effortless. Giving around 15° of movement, you can direct the flow where your tank needs it most. The two-part mounting system incorporates an inner magnet and an outer magnet that can couple together through 0.79" of glass or less, and the pump then sits into the beveled inner magnet for an isolated and quiet mounting system.  Included Fish Guard The fish guard offers more safety to slow-swimming and curious inhabitants. More Color, More Spread, More Power, and More Refined A new generation of Aqua Illumination Hydra lighting is here! The Hydra 32 HD has been redesigned making the reef lights more efficient with better aesthetics. The Hydra Lights have been a staple in the reefing community for years and the new Hydra 32 HD Lights take the same great features and benefits while using more efficient hardware that ultimately gives better light and spread throughout your aquarium.  Easy Control with the MyAI App More LEDs More PAR More Spread Improved Optic Design Improved Water Resistance Thinner Form Factor Multiple Mounting Options Dedicated Moonlight Channel Wider Spectrum (more channels) Design Redesigning the plastics in the Prime and Hydra lineup has resulted in two major benefits: better efficiency and better aesthetics. Efficiency improvements reduce the demands on active cooling for longer component life. Improvements to design thin the fixtures and reduce their profile and presence over your aquarium. Resilient Water-resistance is a major benefit in aquarium lighting - and while the new Prime and Hydras are not waterproof, design improvements make them more capable of facing the moisture-rich adventures of reef keeping. Moonlight A dedicated moonlight LED and channel has been added in the new Prime HD, Prime FW, Hydra 32HD and Hydra 64HD modules. This allows for independent moonlighting designed to simulate the natural lunar color and intensity. Control Control on the lights will use the existing myAI® app which is free, simple and very quick to a program offering onsite direct BLE connection through your smart device. Additional control options may become available for the new generation Prime and Hydras over time. Download the MyAI App: Compatible with MXMNeptune Systems, EcoTech Marine, and AquaIllumination have joined forces to bring MXM to life. Now all your favorite EcoTech and AI pumps and lights can be under the wireless control of Apex & Apex Fusion—the user-friendly, yet powerful, interface you already know and love. No more switching between multiple apps. Optics and Output Output in terms of PAR, color mixing and spread are all improved with the new fixtures. The incorporation of more LEDs results in a more targeted full-spectrum, TIR lenses shape the light’s output and improve its efficiency. The result is more color POP as well as a slightly wider output area and higher average PAR. A combination LED placement and lens geometry blend the light from the clusters so that color separation is further reduced. G6 LED LIGHTING Blue or Pro, EcoTech aims to bring you the absolute best of what’s technologically possible. In the aquarium, enjoy richer colors, pop more fluorescence and create the ultimate balance between crisp and actinic.  From its inception, Radion has set the standard for what full spectrum aquarium LED lighting can be. The 6th generation pushes the limits of color rendition and fluorescence without sacrificing any of the famous flexibility that caters to the desire of the user. With the addition of 395nm diodes, G6 pushes deeper into the UV range, achieving a new level of coral and fish fluorescence. Both Blue and Pro models also feature a rebalancing of color channels and LED (Diode) mix to augment the most flexible and balanced spectra available in aquarium lighting. Better than ever! The G6 Hybrid Hemispherically Edge Illuminating (HEI2) optic system combined with LED placement and form factor delivers beautiful shimmer, super color mixing, ridiculously even PAR, mind-blowing spread and even the ability to adjust the type of blue hue that you love the most. Mind-blowing Spread Ultimate Fluorescence Intense Full Spectrum Color Fully programmable Wireless Control Moonlight Weather Simulation Technologically Superior Design Premium Quality Components Unmatched Support and Service Extensive Mounting Options Optional Diffuser Accessory MIND-BLOWING SPREAD HEI2 Optical System Radion G6 increases output from an impressive 110.5 degrees in the G5 to a staggering 126.3 degrees.  This improvement was achievable through a change to the primary optic on the LEDs which then integrates with the geometry in the existing HEI (Hemispherically Edge Illuminating) secondary optic (lens). The lenses on the G5 deliver more usable light area. This is accomplished by spreading light that would normally create an area of high PAR directly under the LED fixture and redirect it to a significantly wider optimal area of intensity for coral health and growth. This will reduce shadowing in the aquarium as well as increase usable space for coral at all depths. Hemispherical Edge Illumination Radion is a winner in the cost vs. output equation. The HEI2 optical system delivers 126.3 degrees of output. The result, incredibly even PAR over almost 4ft of coverage area making it the highest average output Radion and perhaps the most efficient aquarium light ever made.  G6 BLUE For those who love Blue – we present G6 Blue!  Bluer in every way and then some. Adjustments to the diode mix offer new depths of color intensity. With so much Blue, G6 now creates the opportunity to tune the Blue look between actinic and crisp. The addition of 395nm to the LED cluster pushes fluorescence in fish and corals to the next level. The Best-In-Class Just Keeps Getting Better! The newest generation of EcoTech Radion continues to lead the way in the industry with mind-blowing improvements in light output and color. With a new LED cluster, Hybrid Hemispherically Edge Illuminating (HEI2) optical system, and diodes pushing deeper into the UV spectrum; the G6 Radions are bound to become your new favorite LED reef light. Why does BRS recommend the EcoTech Marine Radion? Quite simply, EcoTech Marine Radions are the LED’s we most often choose to light our own tanks. With the chance to use just about any light we want, there are probably more Radions in use around BRS than any other LED fixture. Through years of experience, we’ve seen the proven results in our growing, thriving reefs. From Aquaculture to the home aquarium, there is a high likelihood that the coral you know and love has been grown or “colored-up” under a generation of Radions. Features and Improvements to the Radion G6 Radions are the standard in aquarium lighting for a reason. Each generation has built upon the successful results of the last, incorporating the latest in design and technology to bring us a state-of-the-art light that blends proven results with greater ease of use. Ecotech Marine has spent significant time and effort in developing and testing lighting programs, such as the popular SPS AB+, that deliver maximum results from their fixtures and bring out the best in our corals. The Radion G6 incorporates a new Hemispherically Edge Illuminating optic system with redesigned LED placement to deliver beautiful shimmer, superior color mixing, even PAR, incredible spread, and even adjustable hues! New HEI2 Optic System Super-Wide 126.3 Degree Spread 395nm Diodes for Ultimate Fluorescence Rebalanced Color Channels and LED Mix Even PAR & High Output Moonlight & Weather Simulation Proven CoralLab AB+ Spectrum Fully Programmable Wireless Mobius App control Mind-Blowing Spread with HEI2 Optical System The Radion G6 achieves its mind-blowing 126.3 degree spread through a new and improved optical system. EcoTech implemented a change to the primary lens on the LEDs, which then integrates with the geometry of the existing HEI (Hemispherically Edge Illuminating) secondary lens to increase the output from an already impressive 110.5 to an outstanding 126.3 degrees! The super-wide spread has an added benefit of increasing output by reflecting off the aquarium side glass walls and reflecting light back into the tank, thus reducing shadows and providing light to the undersides of corals. This means that you can now light your tanks with even less fixtures! The G6 has the highest average output out of all Radions and can provide even PAR across almost four feet of coverage area with its XR30 model, making it perhaps the most efficient aquarium light made to date. Blue vs. Pro The Radion G6 BLUE has gotten even bluer! Adjustments to the diode mix and the addition of 395nm offer new depths of color intensity and increased fluorescence. With the G6, you now have the ability to tune the Blue between actinic and crisp to find the perfect aesthetics for your tank.  The Radion G6 PRO is what you see as the lighting of choice in many public aquariums, aquaculture facilities, and coral spawning laboratories worldwide. It features a balanced LED mix with proven spectrums similar to the output of Metal Halide lighting. Compact & Sleek, High-Quality Design EcoTech Marine aims to produce the most minimally intrusive reef aquarium equipment available. The G6 continues to showcase Radion’s sleek styling, small footprint, and quiet fan with revolutionary heatsink. The Radion boasts a technologically superior design with premium quality components and unmatched customer support. Better yet, the Radion G6 is still backwards compatible with the extensive mounting options and accessories available to the previous generation of Radion, so you can still customize your lighting experience to fit your individual aquarium needs. Mobius Control More colors mean more channels, and with Mobius, programming and controlling your G6 is even easier and faster. Mobius means almost instant setup and programming. Local wireless control and programming can be accomplished with either current OS version iOS or Android smart device. Small, Powerful, and Smart! Max Flow - 2000 GPH Ideal for Aquariums 5-60 Gallons App control with MyAI, Mobius, or MXM Compatible with Glass Thickness up to .5" (13mm) Fish Guard Included to Protect Tank Inhabitants AquaIllumination's Nero 3 creates an adjustable broad flow that is strong but gentle at the same time. Traditional propeller designs produce a hard stream that can irritate corals where the Nero 3's innovative propeller pushes water in a wide pattern that can move foods, detritus, or other free-floating particles around without blasting corals directly. Powerheads have many different uses around a reef tank, but the main goal is to produce enough flow to keep low-flow spots from forming in your tank and help elevate detritus to be sucked into the filtration. With BlueTooth LE technology you can set the pump up into different modes, or create a daily schedule to change the flow up throughout the day. Easy App Control The Nero 3 can be conveniently controlled with the free MyAI or Mobius app - your choice! Flow Modes: Random: Keep your tank guessing with the random flow mode. The Nero 5 will randomly change its flow rate throughout the day creating natural water movement throughout your reef tank.  Pulse: Creating a standing wave can be done with the Nero 5 in Pulse Mode. The pulse interval can be changed to harmonize with your aquarium, along with the max flow rate. Having a wave can cause additional stress on your aquarium, but is a great method for lifting settled detritus from hard to reach areas.  Constant: Set it and forget it! Just set the appropriate flow rate and the Nero 5 will keep flowing at that speed until you change the mode or flow.  Schedule: Create a schedule that can utilize multiple different flow modes. With the MyAi app creating a schedule for your flow is simple and can be done in minutes! Feed: If you target feed, having a pump with feed mode is a requirement. Just hold the driver button for 2-5 seconds to put the Nero 5 into feed mode for 10 minutes.  All-Off: Turn off your pump whenever you want with full control over when they turn back on. Just hold the driver button for 6 or more seconds to turn the pump off. Touching the button again will restart the pump. Magnetic Mounting Mounting the Nero 3 only takes a minute and with the included magnetic mounting system moving the pump around only takes a second. Giving around 15° of movement, you can angle the Nero to direct flow in your aquarium where you need it. The two-part mounting system incorporates an inner magnet and an outer magnet that can couple together through 1/2\" of glass or less, and the pump then sits into the beveled inner magnet for an isolated and quiet mounting system.  Specifications: Max Flow: 2000 GPH Max Glass Thickness: 1/2" Dimensions (wetside): 1.54" x 2.25" Power Consumption: (variable) 20W @ 120VAC max What's Included? (Locals Only) Brightwell - Carbonit-X3 - Next-generation Activated Carbon (450g)

    6 in stock

Overview Next-generation, enhanced activated carbon, offering superior chemical filtration Characteristics to traditional activated carbon. Triple-action removes ammonia, chloramines, and latent organic material, and then facilitates decomposition and oxidation/reduction reactions, enhancing oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), and promoting water quality. Features high capacity for organic removal, high Iodine number, and minimal dust. Average particle size encourages optimal flow and effectiveness. Instructions and GuidelinesPrior to first use, rinse under a stream of fresh water. Each 225 g of CARBONĪT-X3 is suited to efficiently filtering up to 225 US-gallons (~852 L) of water. The method in which CARBONĪT-X3 is employed will dictate reaction time with the water and consequently the rate at which organic material will be extracted; therefore, the greater the reaction time between carbon particles and water, the faster this process will occur. See opposite panel for additional instructions. The use of a mechanical pre-filter to remove particulate organic material from water prior to its interaction with this media will prolong effectiveness. Begin with 1g per 20 US-gallons in the system per week and adjust this ratio as conditions dictate. In high-nutrient aquaria, replace after 24-hours of total use; placement in lower-nutrient aquaria may be extended up to 48-hours of total use. Aquarist may choose to employ CARBONĪT-X3 for 1 - 2 hours each day throughout the course of a 1-month period to help improve water quality. If used in this fashion, CARBONĪT-X3 should be discarded and replaced at the conclusion of each month. Regardless of the method of application, slowing the flow of water through the media will improve its effectiveness.Canister filtration: Load carbon into filter cartridge as directed by filter manufacturer. Passive filtration: Place CARBONĪT-X3 loosely in an 800μm mesh filter bag and locate in an area of low- to medium-flow. Turning bag over once during usage will serve to shift the carbon particles and increases effectivness of this method.Note: CARBONĪT-X3 is not a tradtitional form of activated carbon; it is far more effective per unit mass at removing dissolved organic material, and while it may be employed continuously, aquarists may prefer a traditional form of activated carbon, such as Brightwell Aquatics CARBONĪT-P, for general use. CARBONĪT-P rapidly removes latent organic material from aquaria, however cannot remove ammonia and chloramines, and does not directly facilitate higher ORP as CARBONĪT-X3 does.Technical Background“Activated carbon” is a catch-all name for products that may be derived from coal, wood, or coconut shell, and which have undergone treatment (“activation”) to increase their porosity; the porosity and average pore size of the material is largely responsible for the effectiveness that it will have with regards to removing dissolved organic material from water and vapor. Contrary to claims made by manufacturers/suppliers of activated carbon, trace and minor elements are both actively- and passively-removed by any quality activated carbon; in the case of the former, this is due to gaps in the pores that are partially blocked by large molecules, into which trace and minor elements can pass and become trapped, and in the case of the latter, this is a result of these elements being trapped in binding sites on the large organic molecules, themselves, which are then removed by the carbon. Therefore, supplementation of trace and minor elements should take place after carbon use. Some hobbyists prefer to utilize activated carbon in their aquaria on a full-time basis, while others choose to employ it only when attempting to remove some sort of undesirable substance, such as an abundance or organic material or a medication. There are arguments to support both methods of use, therefore it is up to each individual hobbyist to determine what will work best for their aquaria. In general, freshwater aquaria, which do not have the benefit of protein skimming, can benefit from full-time use of activated carbon, whereas marine aquaria employing protein skimming may benefit more from only occassional carbon use. Overview Premium quality activated carbon, offering desirable physical and chemical characteristics for application in all marine and freshwater aquaria, featuring high capacity for the removal of latent organic material from water and minimal impact on pH. Promotes water quality by removing dissolved organic material, hence encouraging higher oxidation-reduction potential (ORP). Features high capacity for organic removal (high Molasses number), high Iodine number, low ash content, minimal dust, and immeasurable phosphate (verified with lab-grade water analysis equipment). Average particle size encourages optimal flow and effectiveness; may be employed in canister or passive filtration. Instructions and GuidelinesPrior to first use, rinse under a stream of fresh water. Each 500g of Carbonīt-P is suited to efficiently filtering 450 US-gallons (1,703 L) of water. The method in which Carbonīt-P is employed will dictate reaction time with the water and consequently the rate at which organic material will be extracted; therefore, the greater the reaction time between carbon pellets and water, the faster this process will occur. In all cases, the use of a mechanical pre-filter to remove particulate organic material from water prior to its interaction with this media will prolong effectiveness. Follow guidelines for media use below; Carbonīt-P may be removed prior to reaching the maximum recommended filtering time if more than one use is desired. Hobbyist may choose to employ Carbonīt-P for 1 - 2 hours each day throughout the course of a 1-month period to help improve water quality. Provides calcium, strontium, magnesium, and potassium in the same ratios in which they naturally occur in aragonite. Strong source of carbonates. Increases alkalinity to help stabilize pH. Free of phosphate, silicate, and organic material. May be used as an inexpensive alternative to automated calcium reactor systems. Made in the USA. Liquid Reef Instructions Overview Complete source of the elements and molecules that are directly used by corals, clams, and other reef-building invertebrates and organisms to create skeletal material and grow. Provides calcium (140,000 ppm), strontium, magnesium, and potassium in approximately the same ratios* in which they occur in aragonite. Very strong source of carbonates (derived from aragonite). Increases alkalinity to help stabilize pH. Stronger than competing products. May be used as an inexpensive alternative to automated calcium reactor systems Free of phosphate, silicate, and organic material. Technical Background Brightwell Aquatics Liquid Reef has twice the calcium relative to carbonates as compared to natural aragonite, making it a very powerful calcium source. The active components of Liquid Reef are provided by a combination of sources and include natural aragonite, increasing the solubility of the solution and the effectiveness of the method. Silicate- and phosphate-free. Examples of reef-building organisms familiar to hobbyists are: stony corals and their allies; molluscs including clams (bivalves) and snails (gastropods); tube worms that secrete calcareous burrows; and calcareous algae such as coralline, Halimeda, and Penicilus. These organisms require that the components of aragonite be in adequate concentrations if they are to thrive, regardless of how perfect the remainder of their environment is.  The advantage to this method of supplementation is that one product may be used to establish and maintain water parameters conducive to reef formation. Note that target ion-specific supplementation may be called for in some aquaria, depending upon stocking density of reef-building organisms and environmental conditions within the system. Additionally, hobbyists may choose to use Liquid Reef in conjunction with other methods of calcium, strontium, magnesium, and carbonate supplementation as a means of diversifying their dosing routine. The rate at which calcium and carbonates are extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of reef-building livestock, type of lighting, and other conditions; therefore, each aquarium will have different requirements for the rate of supplementation. *Aragonite composition is seen to vary slightly between regions; the specific ratios of target ions in Liquid Reef are based upon data available for aragonite originating in the Tropical Atlantic. Instructions and Guidelines Basic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 50 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the calcium concentration within a range of 412 - 450 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 2,500 US-gallons (9,464 L). Liquid Reef may temporarily cloud aquarium water after addition, therefore it is recommended that the product be dosed at night. Advanced: Determine the calcium concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before each use. Liquid Reef may temporarily cloud aquarium water after addition, therefore it is recommended that the product be dosed at night. Each ml of Liquid Reef will increase the concentration of calcium (“[Ca2+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by approximately 37 ppm. If the initial [Ca2+] in the aquarium is below 412 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 10 ml per 30 US-gallons daily until the desired calcium concentration is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Always try to maintain the [Ca2+] within a range of +/-10 ppm. To determine the dosing rate of this product once the desired [Ca2+] has been acquired, measure the daily rate of calcium uptake (i.e. the decrease in calcium) in your aquarium by measuring the [Ca2+] at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period. To determine the daily dosing rate (preferable to weekly dosing) for calcium maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in [Ca2+] by 37; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [Ca2+]. Daily dosing maintains a more stable [Ca2+] (and more natural environment) than dosing weekly, in which the [Ca2+] spikes just after dosing and then gradually decreases throughout the course of the week. Caution: May cause eye or skin irritation. Flush with water for 15 minutes if in eyes, seek medical attention if irritation persists. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Reef Code A - Balanced Calcium and Alkalinity System (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Reef Code A - Balanced Calcium and Alkalinity System (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview The calcium-bearing component of a two-part method for dosing calcium and carbonates (the substances largely responsible for increasing alkalinity (”buffering capacity”)) in the same ratio as that found in natural seawater. Ionically-balanced with respect to natural seawater concentrations of calcium and carbonates when used in equal amounts with Reef Cōde B. Benefits reef-building organisms such as corals, clams, calcareous algae, etc. Simplifies calcium and alkalinity maintenance. Stronger than most competing products. Contains no phosphate, silicate, or organic material. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and GuidelinesBasic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 25 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the calcium concentration within a range of 412 - 450 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 1,250 US-gallons (4,732 L). When used in equal amounts with Reef Code B, the calcium and carbonates being added are in the same ratio found in natural seawater. Do not mix products in the same container; this will cause the active components to precipitate and become ineffective. Allow 60 seconds to pass between dosing Reef Code A and B.Advanced: Determine the calcium concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before each use. Each ml of Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code A will increase the concentration of calcium (“[Ca2+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by approximately 16 ppm. If the initial [Ca2+] in the aquarium is below 412 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 5 ml per 10 US-gallons daily until the desired calcium concentration is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Note that each aquarium has different requirements for calcium and carbonates (which largely constitute Alkalinity or Buffering Capacity, hence pH-stability); therefore, it is not uncommon for unequal amounts of Reef Code A and B to be required for obtaining and maintaining the desired calcium concentration and alkalinity. To determine the daily dosing rate for calcium maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in [Ca2+] by 16; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [Ca2+].Caution: May cause eye or skin irritation. Flush with water for 15 minutes if in eyes, seek medical attention if irritation persists. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Guaranteed AnalysisCalcium (min) 1,774 mg/oz. (1,200 ppmIngredientsPurified water, Calcium chloride, Magnesium sulfate, Strontium chloride, Magnesium chloride Technical BackgroundThis method of calcium and carbonate supplementation is advantageous to hobbyists interested in a simple and effective means of providing the very elements and molecules required for growth of reef-building organisms such as corals, clams, and their allies. Corals and other reef-building organisms require adequate and stable available calcium and alkalinity if they are to thrive, regardless of how perfect the remainder of their environment is. Under most conditions, the mineral that is secreted as skeletal material is known as Aragonite, composed mostly of carbonate and calcium by weight. Reef-building organisms must extract these substances from the surrounding water in order to secrete new skeletal material for growth. By maintaining the same ratio of calcium ions and carbonates in an aquarium as that found in natural seawater, these organisms have the necessary building blocks available in the proper proportions, even if the hobbyist chooses to maintain higher concentrations of these substances. For maximum effectiveness of the Reef Cōde method, the magnesium concentration in reef aquaria should be adjusted to, and maintained between, 1,290 - 1,320 ppm before using these products (alone or together) or any other calcium and alkalinity products. Doing so helps prevent unwanted precipitation between calcium and carbonate ions. Additional information on this subject is available on our website and on the label for Brightwell Aquatics Magnesion. The rate at which calcium and carbonates are extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of reef-building livestock, type of lighting, and other conditions; therefore, each aquarium will have different requirements for the rate of supplementation. Once the rate of calcium uptake in the aquarium has been determined, the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - MicroBacter Start XLM (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - MicroBacter Start XLM (500ml)

    12 in stock

Professional 15x strength live tank starter nitrifying bioculture for rapidly cycling new marine fish and reef aquaria and brackish aquariums, and for recovering from overcrowding or disasters where the bacteria bed has been damaged or when adding new fish. Useful for rapidly re-establishing nitrification bacteria in case of an emergency Particularly useful in aquaria with high population densities and when adding new fish Helpful to re-establish nitrifying bacteria after cleaning rocks and surfaces and after use of medications. Rapid reduction of ammonia, and nitrite. Prevents “New Tank Syndrome.” Supplied in a proprietary base which provides for maximum longevity Formulated utilizing extensive data compiled by microbiologists. MicrōBacter Start XLM 15X creates a nitrifying biological filter in marine & brackish aquaria of all types and is particularly useful for new startups, resulting in cycling in about 5 to 7 days in most cases.  It quickly removes toxic ammonia and nitrite naturally through non-pathogenic nitrifying bacterial action.  Even though this product is extremely potent, it may be overdosed at up to 5 times the rated dosage during aquarium upsets.  It should be your first choice to remove ammonia during emergencies where the filter has been inadvertently killed or under overcrowding. MicrōBacter Start XLM 15X is a highly concentrated, selective complex of live, extremely effective microbes and enzymes that rapidly reduces the concentrations of organic nitrogen - i.e. ammonia, and nitrite in marine and brackish ecosystems, leading to greatly improved water quality and much faster cycling. Use of MicrōBacter Start XLM does not alleviate the requirement for regular partial water changes to help maintain proper concentrations of elements that are vital to long-term health and survival of aquarium inhabitants. Notes - It is normal that clumps may form in the product and the product and the aquarium may have an “earthy” smell or smell “off” and the aquarium water could become cloudy and the smell and cloudiness could remain for many hours after using. This is due to the bacteria themselves and is an indication of quality and is the reason it is necessary to shake product well immediately before using. Brightwell recommends that you not use any other type of bacteria product until your cycle with this product is complete. Do not use live sand and particularly DO NOT USE dry seeded artificial live rock. There are no dry bacteria species that will be compatible with this nitrifying bacteria product or that are useful to cycle an aquarium! To use a dry bacteria will only lengthen the time it takes to cycle by many weeks and increase your work by 6 to 8 times! Wet cycled live rock or even previously cycled wet man made rock will work fine. Dry sand is fine to use, but not bagged, so called "live sand." Storage - Although product can withstand elevated temperatures for short periods of time (a few days), for best longevity and highest potency, keep below 80°F and if possible, it will be best kept refrigerated at 50°F. Do not freeze! Freezing can kill the bacteria. (This product will usually withstand a freeze or two in transit in the winter, but do not freeze, thaw, freeze thaw.) If the product arrives frozen, then thaw at room temperature, NEVER MICROWAVE! A word about substrates: Most aquarium bacteria and certainly those in MicrōBacter Start XLM live on substrates, that is, they attach themselves to surfaces of rocks, piping and any other surfaces that are available. Most modern aquariums do not have enough surface area. The advent of artificial "live rock" has made available products made from concrete or plastic that look like live rock, but do not have the porosity, so their surface area is too small to support the number of bacteria needed to properly filter the aquarium. Brightwell recommends that you provide plenty of bacterial surface area, either through plenty of porous natural aragonite live rock, or by providing addional filtration media, such as our XportTM media which has the highest surface area per unit volume of any medium in the world, or our less expensive MicroBacter LatticeTM. Before you get started, you will need An appropriately sized bottle of MicrōBacter Start XLM. At a minimum, you will need 1.2 ml of product for every gallon of aquarium capacity. For example, if you have a 100-gallon tank, you will need a minimum of 120 ml of MicrōBacter Start XLM. The following test kits: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH A bottle of Brightwell Erāse-Cl to remove all chlorine or chloramines (if you skip this, you can kill the bacteria in MicrōBacter Start XLM). Of course, you will need an excellent aquarium salt mix, such as Brightwell NēoMarine and purified tap water. Brightwell recommends the tap water be filtered by Reverse Osmosis with post deionization and that you change your carbon filter regularly. Instructions & Guidelines Important: First, use Brightwell Erāse-Cl to completely remove chloramines and chlorine from tap water. Chloramine and chlorine are lethal to the bacteria in this product and if not removed, will cause it to fail! Shake product vigorously immediately before using it. Add the appropriate volume of MicrōBacter Start XLM (see below) to the aquarium in an area of high flow to promote dispersion. Do not use “live sand” or “dry seeded artificial live rock” until cycling with this product is complete for several weeks! (In fact, Brightwell recommends that you do not use dry seeded artificial "live rock" ever. The best choices are aquacultured live rock, rock from the ocean, naturally cycled artificial rock sold wet, unseeded dry artificial rock, dry Florida aragonite, other natural aragonite, Marco Rock and the like. Any rock that already contains a bacteria and is dry, will damage the cycling and in our experience takes too long to cycle and cycles the wrong nutrients - it will not properly cycle ammonia because it is the wrong species of bacteria) To seed Biological Filtration in new aquaria Add 30 ml (6 capfuls) of MicrōBacter Start XLM per 25 US-gallons (95 L) of aquarium water. Add one or more hardy fish. Remove filter socks, turn UV-sterilization and/or ozonation and/or protein skimmer off for the complete period of cycling until you are finished dosing this product. Test ammonia and nitrite levels daily or as needed, if either is above .2 ppm, then you can dose MicrōBacter Start XLM again at a lower dose of 10 ml per 25 US-gallons if desired. At 7 days or longer, Tank is cycled if, and only if, both ammonia and nitrite levels are zero and nitrate is well above zero. If either ammonia or nitrite levels are above zero, then the tank is not yet fully cycled and you should not add fish. if the nitrate is not above zero (at least .25 ppm), then tank is not yet fully cycled and you should not add fish. To replace bacteria killed by extensive cleaning of substrates and surfaces Add 10 to 30 ml per 25 US-gallons (95 L) depending on perceived damage to filter bed, and ammonia level. To replace bacteria killed by medications, overcrowding or emergencies Add 30 ml per 25 US-gallons (95 L) depending on perceived damage to filter bed. Then add 5 ml per half hour until ammonia levels come down. Ongoing care after the aquarium is cycled To provide ongoing biological stability to a cycled aquarium: Switch to MicroBacterClean after tank is fully cycled and one week has elapsed. This will greatly reduce problems during the "ugly stage." At that point, you can add Reef BioFuelTM to provide a carbon source for the MicroBacterClean, if desired.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Restor - Liquid Coral Tissue Nutritional Supplement (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Restor - Liquid Coral Tissue Nutritional Supplement (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview Encourages health, growth, reproduction, and vibrant coloration. Provides important nutrients to corals and their allies during periods of stress inducedby changes in lighting and/or prolonged exposure to excessive water temperature (often resulting in “bleaching”). Aids in tissue repair after corals have undergone fragmenting and captive propagation. Does not require refrigeration. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and Guidelines Shake product well before using. Turn protein skimmer and other forms of mechanical filtration off prior to adding foods fortified with Restôr to aquaria, and allow 10 - 15 minutes after feeding before resuming operation of filtration. Target Feeding (recommended): Target feeding may be carried out with a lengthy piece of rigid air tubing, plastic syringe, pipette, dropper, or similar device; pour 5 ml (1 capful) into a small container and suck a portion of this into the feeding device, then slowly discharge the contents of the device 2 - 4” upstream of the target organism(s). Repeat these steps as deemed necessary. Rinse the portion (inside and outside) of the feeder that was placed into aquarium water before placing it into this bottle (if feeding directly from the bottle rather than from a separate container); failure to do so will contaminate the product and encourage it to decompose. Restôr may be utilized as a food-soak; to do so, place food into a clean container, add up to 5 ml of Restôr and allow 5 - 10 minutes for food to soak; target feed as directed. Broadcast Dispersal: Add up to 5 ml per 50 gallons of water in the entire aquarium system in an area of rapid water movement every two to three days for the first four weeks of use; thereafter, the dosage may be increased as desired. Notes: Add no more than 5 ml total of liquid food suspensions per 50 gallons of water in the entire aquarium system daily for the first four weeks of use; thereafter, the dosage may be gradually increased as desired. Starting out at a low dosage and gradually increasing it with time will allow the biological filtration in the aquarium to adjust to the increase in nutrients and prevent water quality from deteriorating. This product is best utilized by target feeding specific invertebrates in an aquarium; in doing so, the majority of the complex may be consumed by the intended organisms rather than ending up in filtration media or indirectly impacting water quality (as often occurs when indescriminately “broadcast feeding”). Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Guaranteed Analysis Moisture (max) 99.60%, crude protein (min) 0.30%, crude fat (min) 0.10%, crude fiber (min) 0%. (Locals Only) Brightwell - Reef Code B - Balanced Calcium and Alkalinity System (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview The carbonate-bearing component of a two-part method for dosing calcium and carbonates (the substances largely responsible for increasing alkalinity (”buffering capacity”)) in the same ratio as that found in natural seawater. Ionically-balanced with respect to natural seawater concentrations of calcium and carbonates when used in equal amounts with Reef Cōde A. Benefits reef-building organisms such as corals, clams, calcareous algae, etc. Simplifies calcium and alkalinity maintenance. Stronger than most competing products. Contains no phosphate, silicate, or organic material. Instructions and GuidelinesBasic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 25 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the alkalinity within a range of 7 - 12 dKH. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 1,250 US-gallons (4,732 L). When used in equal amounts with Reef Code A, the calcium and carbonates being added are in the same ratio found in natural seawater. Do not mix products in the same container; this will cause the active components to precipitate and become ineffective. Allow 60 seconds to pass between dosing with Reef Code A and B.Advanced: Determine the alkalinity in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before each use. Each ml of Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code B will increase the alkalinity in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by approximately 2.22 dKH (0.79 meq/L). If the initial alkalinity in the aquarium is below 7 dKH (2.5 meq/L), add this product at the maximum rate of 5 ml per 10 US-gallons daily until the desired alkalinity is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). To determine the daily dosing rate for alkalinity maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in alkalinity by 2.22 (when measuring alkalinity by dKH; divide by 0.79 when measuring by meq/L); multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable alkalinity.Caution:Contains carbonate and bicarbonate salts; harmful if swallowed. If swallowed: give water, get medical attention. May cause eye or skin irritation. If in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes, get medical attention. If on skin, wash thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.Guaranteed Analysis:Alkalinity or Buffering Capacity (min) 8,400 dKH (3,000 meq/L)Ingredients:Purified water, inorganic Carbonate, Bicarbonate, Sulfate, and Borate saltsTechnical Background:This method of calcium and carbonate supplementation is advantageous to hobbyists interested in a simple and effective solution to providing the very elements and molecules required for growth of reef-building organisms such as corals, clams, and their allies. Once the rate of alkalinity depletion in the aquarium has been determined, the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Ferrion - Liquid Iron Supplement (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Ferrion - Liquid Iron Supplement (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview Highly-concentrated and stable iron solution for supplementing aquaria containing hermatypic organisms (i.e. “photosynthetic” or zooxanthellate corals, clams, and their allies), macroalgae, coralline algae, mangroves, marsh grasses, and other desirable marine algae and plants. Particularly suited to systems outfitted with a refugium or mud system. Stronger than most competing products. Composed of purified water and ultra-high purity materials. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and Guidelines Basic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 50 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the iron concentration within a range of 0.05 - 0.10 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 2,500 US-gallons (9,464 L).   Advanced: Determine the iron concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before using. Each ml of Ferrion will increase the concentration of iron (“[Fe3+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by 1 ppm. It is advisable to ensure that the concentration of phosphate not exceed 0.05 ppm in the aquarium to be dosed with an iron supplement; see opposite sidebar for additional information. If the initial [Fe3+] in the aquarium is below 0.10 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 10 ml per 20 US-gallons daily until the desired concentration is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Always attempt to maintain the [Fe3+] within a range of +/-0.02 ppm. To determine the dosing rate of this product once the desired [Fe3+] has been acquired, measure the daily rate of iron uptake (i.e. the decrease in iron) in your aquarium by measuring the aquarium's [Fe3+] at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period. To determine the daily dosing rate (preferable to weekly dosing) for iron maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [Fe3+]. Daily dosing maintains a more stable [Fe3+] (and more natural environment) than dosing weekly, in which the [Fe3+] spikes just after dosing and then gradually decreases throughout the course of the week.    Technical Background Photosynthesis is carried out within cell bodies known as Chloroplasts. Iron is utilized in the electron transport chain within the chloroplasts, and is therefore required by photosynthetic organisms for continued functioning and health. In marine aquaria, these organisms include macroalgae (such as Caulerpa, Halimeda, and Penicillus spp.), marsh grasses and mangroves, encrusting calcareous algae, and the symbiotic zooxanthellae and zoochlorellae that reside within the tissues of hermatypic corals, clams, and their allies, as well as in some sponges. In effect, the availability of iron becomes a limiting factor in the rate of photosynthesis, and hence the rate of nutrient uptake and growth, for these organisms. While each aquarium will require different concentrations of iron, a good place to begin is within a range of 0.05 - 0.10 ppm; this will generally provide sufficient iron for the photosynthetic organisms present in the system. Some aquaria may require, or benefit from, iron concentrations greater than 0.10 ppm, however greatly exceeding this level is not recommended. The best method of determining the optimal iron concentration for an aquarium is to begin at 0.05 ppm and then gradually (i.e. over a period of weeks) increase the concentration as warranted by the appearance of the aquarium. Phosphate is a substance that encourages growth of algae under the environmental conditions commonly found in marine aquaria, and overdosing iron in the presence of excessive phosphate may result in algal proliferation; for this reason, the concentration of phosphate in a marine aquarium should be maintained as close to immeasurable as possible. The rate at which iron is extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of photosynthetic organisms, type of lighting, and other conditions. Once the rate of iron uptake in the aquarium has been determined, the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated.   Guaranteed Analysis 0-0-0Iron (Fe) (min) 0.40% Chelated Iron (118 mg/oz.; 4,000 ppm)   IngredientsPurified water, Sodium feredetate Caution: Keep out of reach of children. • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Potassion - Concentrated Potassium Solution (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Potassion - Concentrated Potassium Solution (500ml)

    12 in stock

Highly-concentrated ionic potassium solution. Provides potassium, an important component of aragonite (the mineral secreted as skeletal material by corals and other reef-building marine organisms), complexed into pigments that enhance blue coloration of some small-polyp stony corals, important to proper neurological function, and depleted in marine aquaria by livestock. 80,000 ppm K; considerably stronger and more economical than competing potassium products. May be used to combat potassium depletion that often accompanies the use of zeolite-based filtration methods employed to maintain ultra-low-nutrient aquaria. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and GuidelinesNote that the natural seawater concentration of potassium is ~399 ppm; maintaining the potassium concentration in marine aquaria as closely to this value as possible is recommended. Basic:Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 50 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the potassium concentration within a range of 390 - 410 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 2,500 US-gallons(9,464 L). Advanced:Determine the potassium concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before each use. Each ml of Potassion will increase the concentration of potassium (“[K+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by approximately 21 ppm. If the initial [K+] in the aquarium is below 390 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 10 ml per 20 US-gallons daily until the potassium concentration measures between 390 - 410 ppm, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Always try to maintain the [K+] within a range of +/-10 ppm. To determine the dosing rate of this product once the desired [K+] has been acquired, measure the daily rate of potassium uptake (i.e. the decrease in potassium) in your aquarium by measuring the [K+] at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period. To determine the daily dosing rate (preferable to weekly dosing) for potassium maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in [K+] by 21; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [K+]. Daily dosing maintains a more stable [K+] (and more natural environment) than dosing weekly, in which the [K+] spikes just after dosing and then gradually decreases throughout the course of the week.CautionKeep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Guaranteed Analysis Potassium (min) 2,366 mg/oz. (80,000 ppm) IngredientsPurified water, Potassium sulfate, Potassium chloride. Technical Background In natural seawater, potassium is a non-conservative major element with a concentration slightly lower than that of calcium (~399 ppm vs. ~413 ppm, respectively). It is a component of aragonite, and regular dosing has, within the past several years, been implicated in improving the blue coloration of numerous varieties of small-polyp stony corals; the benefits of potassium supplementation are potentially two-fold, then: provision of an element that is 1.) incorporated into the skeletal material of corals and other reef-buidling organisms for purposes of growth, and 2.) incorporated into pigments that (presumably in the presence of adequate ionic iron) enhance blue coloration of small-polyp stony corals. The importance of potassium to marine organisms is most apparent when beginning to dose it in aquaria with depleted potassium concentrations and/or in which the sea salt mixture used is potassium-deficient; in such cases, changes in the appearance of many corals may be observed within the first weeks of regular dosing.Maintaining potassium within a range of 390 - 410 ppm is sufficient for long-term health, growth, and coloration of corals when all other physical and chemical requirements are met. The rate at which potassium is extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of potassium-depleting livestock, characteristics of lighting and method(s) of filtration employed, and other biological, physical, and chemical conditions; therefore, each aquarium will have different requirements for the rate of potassium supplementation. Once the rate of potassium uptake in the aquarium has been determined (see opposite), the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated. It is recommended that a quality salt mix with the proper (not augmented) alkalinity and concentrations of major, minor, and trace elements be used to establish natural seawater parameters in marine aquaria, providing a stable ionic foundation on which to build.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product
