  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Carbonit-P - Premium Pelletized Carbon (500g)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Carbonit-P - Premium Pelletized Carbon (500g)

    6 in stock

Overview Premium quality activated carbon, offering desirable physical and chemical characteristics for application in all marine and freshwater aquaria, featuring high capacity for the removal of latent organic material from water and minimal impact on pH. Promotes water quality by removing dissolved organic material, hence encouraging higher oxidation-reduction potential (ORP). Features high capacity for organic removal (high Molasses number), high Iodine number, low ash content, minimal dust, and immeasurable phosphate (verified with lab-grade water analysis equipment). Average particle size encourages optimal flow and effectiveness; may be employed in canister or passive filtration. Instructions and GuidelinesPrior to first use, rinse under a stream of fresh water. Each 500g of Carbonīt-P is suited to efficiently filtering 450 US-gallons (1,703 L) of water. The method in which Carbonīt-P is employed will dictate reaction time with the water and consequently the rate at which organic material will be extracted; therefore, the greater the reaction time between carbon pellets and water, the faster this process will occur. In all cases, the use of a mechanical pre-filter to remove particulate organic material from water prior to its interaction with this media will prolong effectiveness. Follow guidelines for media use below; Carbonīt-P may be removed prior to reaching the maximum recommended filtering time if more than one use is desired. Hobbyist may choose to employ Carbonīt-P for 1 - 2 hours each day throughout the course of a 1-month period to help improve water quality. If used in this fashion, Carbonīt-P should be discarded and replaced at the conclusion of each month. In high-nutrient aquaria, replace after 24-hours of total use; placement in lower-nutrient aquaria may be extended up to 48-hours of total use.Canister filtration: Load carbon into filter cartridge as directed by filter manufacturer. Slowing the flow of water through the filter may be required to obtain maximum effectiveness of carbon.Passive filtration: Place Carbonīt-P loosely in an 800μm mesh filter bag and locate in an area of low- to medium-flow. Turning bag over once during usage will serve to shift the carbon particles and increases effectivness of this method.Technical Background“Activated carbon” is a catch-all name for products that may be derived from coal, wood, or coconut shell, and which have undergone treatment (“activation”) to increase their porosity; the porosity and average pore size of the material is largely responsible for the effectiveness that it will have with regards to removing dissolved organic material from water and vapor. Contrary to claims made by manufacturers/suppliers of activated carbon, trace and minor elements are both actively- and passively-removed by any quality activated carbon; in the case of the former, this is due to gaps in the pores that are partially blocked by large molecules, into which trace and minor elements can pass and become trapped, and in the case of the latter, this is a result of these elements being trapped in binding sites on the large organic molecules, themselves, which are then removed by the carbon. Therefore, supplementation of trace and minor elements should take place after carbon use. Some hobbyists prefer to utilize activated carbon in their aquaria on a full-time basis, while others choose to employ it only when attempting to remove some sort of undesirable substance, such as an abundance or organic material or a medication. There are arguments to support both methods of use, therefore it is up to each individual hobbyist to determine what will work best for their aquaria. In general, freshwater aquaria, which do not have the benefit of protein skimming, can benefit from full-time use of activated carbon, whereas marine aquaria employing protein skimming may benefit more from only occassional carbon use.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Carbonit-X3 - Next-generation Activated Carbon (450g)

    (Locals Only) Brightwell - Carbonit-X3 - Next-generation Activated Carbon (450g)

    6 in stock

Overview Next-generation, enhanced activated carbon, offering superior chemical filtration Characteristics to traditional activated carbon. Triple-action removes ammonia, chloramines, and latent organic material, and then facilitates decomposition and oxidation/reduction reactions, enhancing oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), and promoting water quality. Features high capacity for organic removal, high Iodine number, and minimal dust. Average particle size encourages optimal flow and effectiveness. Instructions and GuidelinesPrior to first use, rinse under a stream of fresh water. Each 225 g of CARBONĪT-X3 is suited to efficiently filtering up to 225 US-gallons (~852 L) of water. The method in which CARBONĪT-X3 is employed will dictate reaction time with the water and consequently the rate at which organic material will be extracted; therefore, the greater the reaction time between carbon particles and water, the faster this process will occur. See opposite panel for additional instructions. The use of a mechanical pre-filter to remove particulate organic material from water prior to its interaction with this media will prolong effectiveness. Begin with 1g per 20 US-gallons in the system per week and adjust this ratio as conditions dictate. In high-nutrient aquaria, replace after 24-hours of total use; placement in lower-nutrient aquaria may be extended up to 48-hours of total use. Aquarist may choose to employ CARBONĪT-X3 for 1 - 2 hours each day throughout the course of a 1-month period to help improve water quality. If used in this fashion, CARBONĪT-X3 should be discarded and replaced at the conclusion of each month. Regardless of the method of application, slowing the flow of water through the media will improve its effectiveness.Canister filtration: Load carbon into filter cartridge as directed by filter manufacturer. Passive filtration: Place CARBONĪT-X3 loosely in an 800μm mesh filter bag and locate in an area of low- to medium-flow. Turning bag over once during usage will serve to shift the carbon particles and increases effectivness of this method.Note: CARBONĪT-X3 is not a tradtitional form of activated carbon; it is far more effective per unit mass at removing dissolved organic material, and while it may be employed continuously, aquarists may prefer a traditional form of activated carbon, such as Brightwell Aquatics CARBONĪT-P, for general use. CARBONĪT-P rapidly removes latent organic material from aquaria, however cannot remove ammonia and chloramines, and does not directly facilitate higher ORP as CARBONĪT-X3 does.Technical Background“Activated carbon” is a catch-all name for products that may be derived from coal, wood, or coconut shell, and which have undergone treatment (“activation”) to increase their porosity; the porosity and average pore size of the material is largely responsible for the effectiveness that it will have with regards to removing dissolved organic material from water and vapor. • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Erase-Cl - Dechlorinator (500ml)

    (Locals Only) Brightwell - Erase-Cl - Dechlorinator (500ml)

    12 in stock

Erase-CL is an all purpose Chlorine, Chloramine and Ammonia remover.  If city water is used for any type of aquarium a dechlorinator should be used to neutralize any chlorine or ammonia that may be in the water supply.  The best case scenario would be to use RODI water for your aquarium, however many people have have very successful aquariums using Brightwell Aquatics Erase-CL. Removes chloramines, chlorine, ammonia, and nitrites present in tap water and/or aquarium water. May be used to neutralize iodine in the event of an aquarium overdose. Used as directed, is safe for use directly in all marine and freshwater aquaria. Free of phosphate and silicate. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and Guidelines To Treat Tap Water: Add 5 ml (1 capful) per 50 US-gallons of tap water to remove chloramines and ammonia; used in this fashion, Erāse-Cl will treat up to 6 ppm chlorine, 3 ppm chloramines, or 1 ppm ammonia. To Treat Aquarium Water: Determine ammonia concentration in aquarium using an accurate ammonia test kit with ammonia salicylate reagent (see comments below). Add 5 ml (1 capful) per 50 US-gallons of water in overall system per 1 ppm of ammonia measured on test kit. Allow 10 minutes to elapse, then re-test ammonia concentration in aquarium and repeat treatment instructions if necessary. Testing for Ammonia: When using this product, be sure to measure ammonia with a test kit featuring ammonia salicylate reagent rather than Nessler’s reagent; Nessler’s reagent will give an incorrect positive reading of ammonia due to the manner in which the reagent interacts with the active components of Erāse-Cl. To Treat Free Iodine Overdose: If you suspect that iodine has been overdosed in an aquarium (such as due to accidental misuse), add 10 ml (2 capfuls) Erāse-Cl per 40 US-gallons in an area of energetic water flow; doing so will neutralize free iodine (i.e. that which is not in an ionic form, such as iodide or iodate, or in a bound form). Observe aquarium livestock for no less than 15 minutes thereafter. Erāse-Cl binds iodine at a rate that is limited only by the response time and degree of water circulation in the aquarium; the faster the product is added after an overdose and the more rapid the water circulation in the system, the better the product will perform. No claim is made that this product will prevent damage or reverse that which has already been suffered by livestock or biological filtration in any event. This product is particularly useful for hobbyists who are experimenting with Lugol’s Solution and other strong iodine sources in an attempt to benefit aquarium inhabitants. Do not exceed a total iodine concentration of 0.10 ppm in a marine aquarium at any time. Background Erāse-Cl may be used to prepare water for use in aquaria (such as when performing water changes or replacing water lost to evaporation), as well as during periods of time when the concentration(s) of ammonia and/or nitrite become measurable (ammonia and nitrite concentrations should remain immeasurable in established aquaria with mature biological filtration, except for periods when new livestock are added to the system or the concentration of dissolved organic material has increased for some reason). Erāse-Cl is not meant to be considered a substitute for maintaining adequate filtration equipment/methods or the care thereof, however it can be utilized as needed in the prevention of ammonia or nitrite from irritating sensitive aquarium inhabitants. A balanced aquarium is one in which the rate of organic material input to the system is matched by the removal rate from filtration methods; it is natural for a system to become unbalanced for short periods of time after adding new livestock, disturbing the biological filtration, changing feeding habits, etc., however the system should fall back into balance again within a period of days. If concentrations of ammonia or nitrite are persistently-measurable with a quality test kit, test the source water (i.e. tap water or water from the purification unit (if applicable)) for these substances. If they are not present, reducing the rate of organic material input, increasing the filtration capacity, or even moving the inhabitants into a larger system may be warranted. Chronic levels of ammonia and nitrite can gradually weaken fish and invertebrates, often leading to illness and potentially death. Erāse-Cl immediately binds iodine in the event of an overdose (typified by “drooping” and rapidly decaying tissue of corals, clams, their allies, and other sessile invertebrates, as well as erratic behavior and/or death of fishes and motile invertebrates), decreasing the potential for damage to livestock and the beneficial microbes that constitute the biological filter. Note: It is strongly recommended that hobbyists administering Lugol’s-type iodine supplements (which are typically extremely strong) to reef aquaria have a bottle of Erāse-Cl on hand at all times, in case of accidental overdose. Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Contact poison control center if ingested.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Ferrion - Liquid Iron Supplement (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Ferrion - Liquid Iron Supplement (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview Highly-concentrated and stable iron solution for supplementing aquaria containing hermatypic organisms (i.e. “photosynthetic” or zooxanthellate corals, clams, and their allies), macroalgae, coralline algae, mangroves, marsh grasses, and other desirable marine algae and plants. Particularly suited to systems outfitted with a refugium or mud system. Stronger than most competing products. Composed of purified water and ultra-high purity materials. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and Guidelines Basic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 50 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the iron concentration within a range of 0.05 - 0.10 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 2,500 US-gallons (9,464 L).   Advanced: Determine the iron concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before using. Each ml of Ferrion will increase the concentration of iron (“[Fe3+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by 1 ppm. It is advisable to ensure that the concentration of phosphate not exceed 0.05 ppm in the aquarium to be dosed with an iron supplement; see opposite sidebar for additional information. If the initial [Fe3+] in the aquarium is below 0.10 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 10 ml per 20 US-gallons daily until the desired concentration is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Always attempt to maintain the [Fe3+] within a range of +/-0.02 ppm. To determine the dosing rate of this product once the desired [Fe3+] has been acquired, measure the daily rate of iron uptake (i.e. the decrease in iron) in your aquarium by measuring the aquarium's [Fe3+] at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period. To determine the daily dosing rate (preferable to weekly dosing) for iron maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [Fe3+]. Daily dosing maintains a more stable [Fe3+] (and more natural environment) than dosing weekly, in which the [Fe3+] spikes just after dosing and then gradually decreases throughout the course of the week.    Technical Background Photosynthesis is carried out within cell bodies known as Chloroplasts. Iron is utilized in the electron transport chain within the chloroplasts, and is therefore required by photosynthetic organisms for continued functioning and health. In marine aquaria, these organisms include macroalgae (such as Caulerpa, Halimeda, and Penicillus spp.), marsh grasses and mangroves, encrusting calcareous algae, and the symbiotic zooxanthellae and zoochlorellae that reside within the tissues of hermatypic corals, clams, and their allies, as well as in some sponges. In effect, the availability of iron becomes a limiting factor in the rate of photosynthesis, and hence the rate of nutrient uptake and growth, for these organisms. While each aquarium will require different concentrations of iron, a good place to begin is within a range of 0.05 - 0.10 ppm; this will generally provide sufficient iron for the photosynthetic organisms present in the system. Some aquaria may require, or benefit from, iron concentrations greater than 0.10 ppm, however greatly exceeding this level is not recommended. The best method of determining the optimal iron concentration for an aquarium is to begin at 0.05 ppm and then gradually (i.e. over a period of weeks) increase the concentration as warranted by the appearance of the aquarium. Phosphate is a substance that encourages growth of algae under the environmental conditions commonly found in marine aquaria, and overdosing iron in the presence of excessive phosphate may result in algal proliferation; for this reason, the concentration of phosphate in a marine aquarium should be maintained as close to immeasurable as possible. The rate at which iron is extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of photosynthetic organisms, type of lighting, and other conditions. Once the rate of iron uptake in the aquarium has been determined, the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated.   Guaranteed Analysis 0-0-0Iron (Fe) (min) 0.40% Chelated Iron (118 mg/oz.; 4,000 ppm)   IngredientsPurified water, Sodium feredetate Caution: Keep out of reach of children. • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Florin-Fe - Iron Supplement for Planted Aquariums (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Florin-Fe - Iron Supplement for Planted Aquariums (500ml)

    12 in stock

Bioavailable Ferrous & Ferric Iron Source for Planted Tanks Concentrated source of both ferrous (Fe2+) & ferric (Fe3+) iron Provides both immediate and slow releasing iron Aids in chlorophyll production & plant metabolic reactions Helps to prevent yellow or transparent leaves Over 50% stronger than competitor products Formulated using extensive research on aquatic plant nutrient requirements  Iron is a crucial element for plants, both in water and on land. It helps produce chlorophyll and activates enzymes involved in important metabolic reactions. It is considered a micronutrient that can limit plant growth in certain aquatic environments. Adding iron to these systems can boost plant growth, but too much iron can lead to excessive algae growth, especially when there are high levels of nitrate and phosphate. Iron deficiency is visible when plant leaves turn yellow or translucent and eventually disintegrate. Brightwell Aquatics Florin-Fe provides iron in two stages-- immediate and delayed-- ensuring a stable concentration that can be gradually absorbed by aquarium plants. It's recommended to add iron daily instead of weekly to maintain stability and avoid sudden increases that can promote algae growth. Daily dosing allows for better observation of changes in the aquarium and adjustment of iron dosage as needed. Instructions & Guidelines Shake product well before using. The most effective method of using any ion-specific supplement is to determine the ionic concentration in the aquarium prior to supplementing. Basic: Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 50 US-gallons (187.3 L) of aquarium water every other day or as required; this corresponds to 1 ml (~8 drops) per 10 US-gallons (37.9 L). When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 2,500 US-gallons (9,463.5 L). Maintain the iron concentration within a range of 0.05 - 0.10 ppm. Advanced: Determine the iron concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Each ml of Florin-Fe will increase the concentration of total iron (“[Fe2+/3+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by 3.2 ppm. Each drop (250- and 500-ml cap) will increase the [Fe2+/3+] in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by 0.4 ppm, and the [Fe2+/3+] in 20 US-gallons (75.7 L) by 0.02 ppm. Maintain the iron concentration within a range of 0.05 - 0.10 ppm. Note: It is advisable to ensure that the concentration of phosphate not exceed 0.05 ppm in the aquarium to be dosed with an iron supplement. If the initial [Fe2+/3+] in the aquarium is below 0.05 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 1 ml per 10 US-gallons daily until the desired concentration is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Always attempt to maintain the [Fe2+/3+] within a range of +/-0.02 ppm. To determine the dosing rate of this product once the desired [Fe2+/3+] has been acquired, measure the daily rate of iron uptake (i.e. the decrease in iron) in your aquarium by measuring the aquarium's [Fe2+/3+] at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period. To determine the daily dosing rate (preferable to weekly dosing) for iron maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in [Fe2+/3+] by 3.2; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [Fe2+/3+]. Daily dosing maintains a more stable [Fe2+/3+] (and more natural environment) than dosing weekly, in which the [Fe2+/3+] spikes just after dosing and then gradually decreases throughout the course of the week. • (Locals Only) Brightwell - FragRecover - Coral Dip (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - FragRecover - Coral Dip (500ml)

    12 in stock

Aids in Regeneration of Cut Coral Tissue and Recovery of Live Coral Frags Over the past several decades, there has been a tremendous increase in reports of coral disease affecting wild reefs. These same coral diseases can also have a negative impact on the home reef aquarium systems and the corals that are kept. Coral diseases can rapidly lead to significant losses of coral specimens in the reef aquarium. These diseases can affect a wide range of corals including Small polyp stony corals (SPS), Large polyp stony corals (LPS) along with soft coral. Less than optimal water quality, poor lighting, coral warfare, along with tissue damage due to handling and/or injury occurring in the aquarium can lead to sudden outbreaks of coral disease. These diseases may have a sudden impact, with specimen loss almost overnight, or may slowly progress over time. Ultimately, the presence of a coral disease in the reef aquarium will lead to coral specimen loss. It is vital that disease identification takes place, treatment implemented, and the root cause of the outbreak eliminated to prevent additional infections and spreading to other coral specimens within the aquarium. All-Natural, herbal frag dip to accelerate coral recovery and growth after fragging It helps prevent disease transfer into the aquarium Reduces coral stress following fragging Stimulates regrowth of coral tissue that is needed due to fragment cutting Safe for all coral varieties, soft, LPS and SPS Effective prophylactic treatment prior to adding frags into the aquarium Brightwell Aquatics Frag Recover is an All-Natural, coral dip that will not only treat the affected coral but will help stimulate regrowth of lost coral tissue caused by the disease infection. Instructions & Guidelines Shake product well before using. To prepare the Frag Recover coral frag dip solution, add 20 mL (4 capfuls ) of Frag Recover to 1/2 gallon (1.9 L) of aquarium water. Stir the solution to evenly disperse the product. Make enough solution to cover corals. After the selected coral has been cut, place the fragged piece along with the parent colony into the prepared Frag Recover frag dip solution for 5 minutes (use a timer). It is recommended that the solution is gently forced over the cut areas by (gently) squirting prepared solution with a turkey baster over the targeted areas. After the dip has completed, place the parent colony back into the aquarium. The new coral frag should now be glued or bonded to a solid surface to maximize grow out potential and prevent turning over. Attach the new coral frag to Brightwell Aquatics HexiDiscs (ideal surface area for frag growth) using a reef-safe glue or epoxy as directed. The new coral frag can now be added to the grow-out system (assuming like conditions of the main aquarium) or the main aquarium itself. It will be common for both parent colony and the new coral frag to exhibit diminished polyp extension until they are re-adjusted to the aquarium. To prevent an outbreak of coral disease in the aquarium after fragmentation or treat any visible coral infections in the aquarium, also use Brightwell Aquatics Koral Recover directly in the aquarium as directed. (Because Frag Recover is only designed to be used as a dip outside the aquarium). Caution - Prior to fragging, research the proper fragmentation procedures for the specific coral specimens to be cut, to insure optimal success and overall safety. Wear eye goggles, and rubber gloves because some marine invertebrates can squirt toxic bodily fluids into your face when cut. The fragmentation of corals has become a common practice within the hobby of marine reef keeping. Fragging, as it is commonly called, is simply cutting off a small portion of a parent coral colony and creating additional specimens – frags. This practice allows reef hobbyists to attain desirable coral specimens at a fraction of the cost or to share with other hobbyists while reducing impact on natural reef systems. Fragmenting corals is generally a safe process for the corals but still creates some level of stress on both the parent colony and the newly fragmented piece. The exposed areas, at the cutting site, are more susceptible to infections and overall stress. Regrowth of coral tissue over the newly exposed area is key to the coral frag recovery. Brightwell Aquatics Frag Recover will support the recovery process by aiding in the regrowth of tissue over the exposed, cut areas on both the parent colony and the frag. This will also limit exposure to infection and/or infestation by coral predators and make the fragging process more successful.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

The nature of iodide sources used makes Iodion more effective than standard iodide-solutions. Suitable for use by aquarium hobbyists of all skill and experience levels. Composed of purified water and ultra-high purity materials. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and GuidelinesBasic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 50 US-gallons of aquarium water every two- to three-days or as needed to maintain the iodine concentration within a range of 0.04 - 0.06 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 2,500 US-gallons (9,464 L). Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Contact poison control center if ingested.Guaranteed Analysis IngredientsPurified water, Potassium iodide, Stabilized iodide All Brightwell Aquatics liquid water care supplements are made with purified water and high purity materials. Brightwell has developed formulas for aquaria based on empirical data, using observation and measurement rather than theory. Technical BackgroundPresence of iodine is vital to hermatypic invertebrates because it is used to detoxify excess oxygen produced by zooxanthellae. This oxygen irritates sensitive tissue. Corals and clams that appear to shrivel or close under intense lighting are likely attempting to shade their zooxanthellae symbionts to reduce the rate of oxygen production. Iodide essentially bonds with oxygen to form non-toxic iodate, relieving the need to shield zooxanthellae and enabling the host organism to open more fully. The predominant form of iodine in seawater is iodide. The natural seawater concentration of all iodine species combined is approximately 0.06 ppm, classifying it as a minor element. Even in this small concentration, iodine is required for survival of fishes, crustaceans, macroalgae and kelp, and hermatypic invertebrates alike. The importance of iodine in a reef aquarium cannot be overstated. Iodine binds rapidly with latent organic material and is passively removed by aggressive protein skimming and the use of organic-adsorption products such as activated carbon and specialty resins. The combined biological and chemical depletion of iodine necessitate that its concentration be monitored and the aquarium supplemented as needed. The rate at which iodine is extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of reef-building livestock, type of lighting, and other biological, physical, and chemical conditions. Once the rate of iodine uptake in the aquarium has been determined, the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Koral Color - Increased Coloration (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Koral Color - Increased Coloration (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview Provides numerous elements important to the formation of various biochromes (biological pigments), complex molecules that give coloration to plant and animal cells through their selective color-absorption and -reflection characteristics. Formulated specifically to provide trace quantities of elements for gradual incorporation into, and formation of, biochromes known to occur within zooxanthellae, such as chlorophylls a and c, beta carotene, and xanthophylls. Does not influence population density of zooxanthellae, which would put the overall health and survival of the host organism in a precarious situation. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and Guidelines Although the tendency of many hobbyists may be to dose heavily in hopes of obtaining “brighter invertebrates faster”, this product must be used as directed below for maximum positive results. Do not overdose, as doing so may be detrimental to the long-term health of the aquarium inhabitants. Dose according to the following guidelines, and base the specific dosage required for an aquarium on the total volume in the entire system (including sump(s), water displacement by rock and bottom substrate, etc.).  The general purpose of providing the elements incorporated into biochromes is not necessarily color change, but color intensification. Because every aquarium presents different chemical and biological conditions, the dosages provided above are intended as general guidelines, to which the hobbyist should alter as the requirements and appearance of the aquarium inhabitants dictate. We encourage hobbyists to use this product responsibly and only as directed.Basic:Add 1 ml (~20 drops) per 25 US-gallons (94.6 L) every three days (alternatively, twice a week). If using the product in a particularly small aquarium (e.g. ≤ 10 US-gallons), dilute 1 ml of KoralColor in 8 fl. oz. of purified water and add 1 fl. oz. of the resultant solution per 3 US-gallons twice each week (i.e. Wednesday and Saturday).Recommended:Add one drop per 5 US-gallons (18.9 L) daily. If using the product in a particularly small aquarium (e.g. ≤ 5 US-gallons), dilute one drop of KoralColor in 8 fl. oz. of purified water and add 4 fl. oz. of the resultant solution per 2.5 US-gallons daily. It is not uncommon for the coloration of some of the lighter, “warm-colored” pigments (such as yellow and pale orange) in corals and clams to take on a slightly “cooler” coloration (such as lime or aqua). If this is observed and is undesirable, decrease dosing by 25% on a weekly basis until the original color returns to the organism, and maintain the new dosage.CautionKeep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.IngredientsPurified water, proprietary blend of major, minor, and trace elements known to be incorporated into biological pigments (biochromes).Technical BackgroundIn many ways, aquarium husbandry may be thought of as an artistic expression of the hobbyist in which living organisms are the figurative colors on a painter’s canvas. Images of vividly-colored marine fishes and invertebrates co-existing in reef ecosystems are the inspiration of many marine aquarium hobbyists, and the acquisition (and maintenance) of healthy, colorful corals and clams is a primary aspect of achieving the desired appearance of a captive reef habitat. Much of the observed coloration of corals, clams, and their allies, is attributable to biological pigments created by symbiotic zooxanthellae residing within their tissues. These pigments are termed “Biochromes”, and their formation and perceived appearance are at least partially influenced by the presence of trace elements that form the basis of more complex molecules. Certain characteristics of the light source(s) used to illuminate the aquarium will also influence the observed coloration of an organism, however the actual coloration of the organisms will still be primarily dictated by the pigments present, their ratios to one another in the same tissue, and other physical, chemical, and biological factors.KoralColor provides elements that are known to be incorporated into a number of biochromes. Used as directed, KoralColor will provide elements that may be utilized by captive marine organisms to enhance their coloration. It is not intended for use as a general supplement for maintaining natural seawater concentrations of elements for the purpose of satisfying enzymatic and neurological requirements of aquarium inhabitants; for this, use Brightwell Aquatics Replenish.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Koral Recover - Coral Remedy (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Koral Recover - Coral Remedy (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview All-Natural, herbal treatment for symptoms affecting live hard and soft corals in marine aquariums. Treats a number of symptoms of coral disease such as RTN (Rapid Tissue Necrosis), STN (Slow Tissue Necrosis), White Band, Black Band, Brown Jelly and White Paste. Boosts coral immune functions and increases resistance. Stimulates regrowth of lost coral tissue that occurs due to disease, fragging and/or stress. Safe for all coral varieties, clams, anemones, sponges, invertebrates (including shrimp), & fish (including sharks, rays, gobies, seahorses, and eels). Also safe for calcareous and macroalgae. Will not adversely affect the biological filter as seen with antibiotic usage. Does not discolor the aquarium water or alter water parameters Technical Background Over the past several decades, there has been a tremendous increase in reports of coral disease affecting wild reefs. Less than optimal water quality, poor lighting, coral warfare, along with tissue damage due to handling and / or injury occurring in the aquarium can lead to sudden outbreaks of coral disease. Brightwell Aquatics Koral Recover is an All-Natural, coral remedy that will not only treat the affected coral but will help stimulate regrowth of lost coral tissue caused by the disease infection. It is important that the entire aquarium be treated as the disease can continue to affect additional specimens in the aquarium. To help prevent initial outbreaks, it is recommended that corals or frags be pre-treated with Brightwell Aquatics Koral MD dip to prevent damaging hitchhikers from entering the aquarium or MediCoral dip or Frag Recover Dip to prevent bacterial transfer prior to introduction to the main aquarium. This will prepare new corals for their introduction to the display reef aquarium and minimize coral stress and potential disease outbreaks. Instructions & Guidelines Shake product well before using. Add 5 mL (1 capful on 500 ml bottle) of Koral Recover daily for every 10 gallons (38 L) of aquarium water. Continue to treat (5 mL per 10 gallons) for 7 consecutive days to effectively treat the coral infection. Perform a 25% water change after the 7-day treatment protocol. If symptoms remain evident after initial treatment, an additional treatment cycle can be implemented. It is recommended that the product be added to an area of the aquarium with strong water flow to evenly disperse the product. You may notice temporary coral polyp retraction when the product is initially added as corals are highly sensitive to any sudden changes to their immediate habitat. It is important that chemical filtration (carbon and resins) be removed prior to dosing as the media will remove the active ingredients and render it less effective. Koral Recover may also create excess foaming within the protein skimmer used in the aquarium. It is recommended that the skimmer be adjusted until the excess foaming is minimized. Prophylactic use: Add 5 mL (1 capful) of Koral Recover for every 10 gallons (38 L) of aquarium water daily for 3 days when adding new corals. Brightwell Aquatics Koral Recover is designed to treat corals directly in the aquarium. Koral Recover will not only treat the specimens in question but also aid in preventing the spread to additional coral specimens. Once corals have been damaged, they need proper nutritional support to fully recover. It is recommended that you consider simultaneously using Brightwell Strontion to raise strontium levels and Brightwell Restor to provide proper readily available amino acids to increase coral tissue growth rates and encourage healing. Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. If ingested, contact a poison control center. Not for use on fish or invertebrates for human consumption!  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Koralle-VM - Vitamin and Mineral Supplement (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview Unique vitamin and minor and trace element complex for establishing and replacing substances important to marine invertebrates, including corals, clams, and their allies; these substances are particularly important to biological reactions. Does not contain minor or trace elements notexpressly known to be utilized by marine organismsor take place in chemical interactions. Vitamins are present in ratios found in the tissues of filter-feeding marine invertebrates. Minor and trace elements are present in natural seawater ratios. Composed of purified water and ultra-high purity materials. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and GuidelinesBasic: Shake well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) per 25 US-gallons of water in the aquarium system weekly for the first four weeks of use; then, gradually increase the dosage to 10 ml per 25 US-gallons per week if desired. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 1,250 US-gallons (4,732 L).Advanced: Shake well before using. Begin by adding 5 ml (approximately 40 drops or 1 capful) of Kōralle-VM per 25 US-gallons of water weekly for the first four weeks of use; this corresponds to adding approximately 4 drops per 20 US-gallons each day. Then, gradually increase the weekly dosage to 10 ml per 25 US-gallons over the following four weeks and maintain this dosage. [Note: if using Kōralle-VM in conjunction with Brightwell Aquatics Rēplenish and/or Vītamarin-M, decrease dosages of those products by 50%.] Starting at a low dosage will not cause any harm to the livestock, and will enable you to notice subtle changes in the appearance of the system that indicate the effectiveness and need for the product. Daily dosing maintains more stable concentrations (and a more natural environment) than dosing weekly, in which the concentration of elements spikes just after dosing and then gradually decreases throughout the course of the week. Vitamins and trace elements are important to biological reactions taking place inside all living organisms, however they are present and required in very low concentrations.Caution:Keep out of reach of children. Elements are present in natural seawater ratios (i.e. the ratios in which they are present in seawater). Since they are not depleted by biological nor chemical interactions, no minor or trace elements that are not expressly needed by aquatic organisms are present in this product; this includes unnecessary elements such as lithium, rubidium, and molybdenum. Additionally, a full-complement of vitamins are present in the same ratios found in the tissues of filter-feeding marine invertebrates, organisms that extract plankton from the surrounding water and gain their nutritional benefit, and which are in turn consumed by many reef inhabitants. This logical blend of vitamins and minerals is of benefit to all marine aquarium inhabitants.Of the detectable elements in seawater, 11 are minor elements and 52 are trace elements. Between the two groups, at least 13 elements appear to be expressly-required for the growth of primary producers such as algae, and an additional 18 are either incorporated into living tissue/skeletal material or undergo chemical interactions that cause their depletion in surface waters. These elements are important to a number of enzymatic and vitamin-synthesis reactions for plants and animals alike; additionally, they influence pigmentation, and therefore coloration, of various organisms. Iodine, though an important trace element, is not provided by this product but instead appears in a separate supplement as a result of rapid usage relative to other trace and minor elements in marine environments.Kōralle-VM does not require refrigeration, however storage in a cool, shaded area will prolong the activity of the vitamins. Refrigeration will maximize the shelf-life of the product.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Liquid Reef - Reef Building Complex for Corals, Clams (500ml)

    12 in stock

Description Concentrated reef builder for coralline algae, corals, clams and other marine invertebrates. Provides calcium, strontium, magnesium, and potassium in the same ratios in which they naturally occur in aragonite. Strong source of carbonates. Increases alkalinity to help stabilize pH. Free of phosphate, silicate, and organic material. May be used as an inexpensive alternative to automated calcium reactor systems. Made in the USA. Liquid Reef Instructions Overview Complete source of the elements and molecules that are directly used by corals, clams, and other reef-building invertebrates and organisms to create skeletal material and grow. Provides calcium (140,000 ppm), strontium, magnesium, and potassium in approximately the same ratios* in which they occur in aragonite. Very strong source of carbonates (derived from aragonite). Increases alkalinity to help stabilize pH. Stronger than competing products. May be used as an inexpensive alternative to automated calcium reactor systems Free of phosphate, silicate, and organic material. Technical Background Brightwell Aquatics Liquid Reef has twice the calcium relative to carbonates as compared to natural aragonite, making it a very powerful calcium source. The active components of Liquid Reef are provided by a combination of sources and include natural aragonite, increasing the solubility of the solution and the effectiveness of the method. Silicate- and phosphate-free. Examples of reef-building organisms familiar to hobbyists are: stony corals and their allies; molluscs including clams (bivalves) and snails (gastropods); tube worms that secrete calcareous burrows; and calcareous algae such as coralline, Halimeda, and Penicilus. These organisms require that the components of aragonite be in adequate concentrations if they are to thrive, regardless of how perfect the remainder of their environment is.  The advantage to this method of supplementation is that one product may be used to establish and maintain water parameters conducive to reef formation. Note that target ion-specific supplementation may be called for in some aquaria, depending upon stocking density of reef-building organisms and environmental conditions within the system. Additionally, hobbyists may choose to use Liquid Reef in conjunction with other methods of calcium, strontium, magnesium, and carbonate supplementation as a means of diversifying their dosing routine. The rate at which calcium and carbonates are extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of reef-building livestock, type of lighting, and other conditions; therefore, each aquarium will have different requirements for the rate of supplementation. *Aragonite composition is seen to vary slightly between regions; the specific ratios of target ions in Liquid Reef are based upon data available for aragonite originating in the Tropical Atlantic. Instructions and Guidelines Basic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 50 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the calcium concentration within a range of 412 - 450 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 2,500 US-gallons (9,464 L). Liquid Reef may temporarily cloud aquarium water after addition, therefore it is recommended that the product be dosed at night. Advanced: Determine the calcium concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before each use. Liquid Reef may temporarily cloud aquarium water after addition, therefore it is recommended that the product be dosed at night. Each ml of Liquid Reef will increase the concentration of calcium (“[Ca2+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by approximately 37 ppm. If the initial [Ca2+] in the aquarium is below 412 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 10 ml per 30 US-gallons daily until the desired calcium concentration is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Always try to maintain the [Ca2+] within a range of +/-10 ppm. To determine the dosing rate of this product once the desired [Ca2+] has been acquired, measure the daily rate of calcium uptake (i.e. the decrease in calcium) in your aquarium by measuring the [Ca2+] at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period. To determine the daily dosing rate (preferable to weekly dosing) for calcium maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in [Ca2+] by 37; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [Ca2+]. Daily dosing maintains a more stable [Ca2+] (and more natural environment) than dosing weekly, in which the [Ca2+] spikes just after dosing and then gradually decreases throughout the course of the week. Caution: May cause eye or skin irritation. Flush with water for 15 minutes if in eyes, seek medical attention if irritation persists. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Overview Highly-concentrated ionic magnesium solution. Provides magnesium, which helps regulate the balance between calcium and carbonates in aquarium water. Stronger than most competing products. Contains no unwanted organic material such as EDTA, gluconate, or polygluconate. Instructions and GuidelinesBasic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 20 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the magnesium concentration within a range of 1,290 - 1,320 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 1,000 US-gallons (3,785 L).Advanced: Determine the magnesium concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before using. Each ml of Magnesion will increase the concentration of magnesium (“[Mg2+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by 26 ppm. If the initial [Mg2+] in the aquarium is below 1,288 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 10 ml per 20 US-gallons daily until the desired concentration is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Always try to maintain the [Mg2+] within a range of +/-10 ppm. To determine the dosing rate of this product once the desired [Mg2+] has been acquired, measure the daily rate of magnesium uptake (i.e. the decrease in magnesium) in your aquarium by measuring the aquarium's [Mg2+] at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period. To determine the daily dosing rate (preferable to weekly dosing) for magnesium maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in [Mg2+] by 26; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [Mg2+]. Daily dosing maintains a more stable [Mg2+] (and more natural environment) than dosing weekly, in which the [Mg2+] spikes just after dosing and then gradually decreases throughout the course of the week. Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Guaranteed AnalysisMagnesium (min) 2,959 mg/oz. (100,000 ppm) IngredientsPurified water, Magnesium sulfate, Magnesium chlorideTechnical BackgroundMagnesium plays a vital role in reef aquaria: it helps maintain calcium and carbonate (composing the majority of measurable alkalinity) concentrations by limiting unwanted inorganic precipitation with each other. In the absence of adequate magnesium ions, calcium and carbonate ions bond rapidly, depleting their concentrations in the system and creating the false impression that heavier supplementation is required to re-establish the desired concentrations. No matter how much calcium is added, its natural seawater concentration of 412 ppm will never be sustained until the magnesium concentration begins to approach 1,290 ppm. Once the balance between calcium and magnesium has been established, subsequent calcium supplementation yields immediate positive results. Keeping magnesium within a range of 1,290-1,320 ppm will maintain the desired balance, and provides enough of the element to reef-building organisms for the formation of aragonite (~0.10% Mg by weight). The rate at which magnesium is extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of reef-building livestock, type of lighting, and other conditions; therefore, each aquarium will have different requirements for the rate of magnesium supplementation. Once the rate of magnesium uptake in the aquarium has been determined, the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated. It is recommended that a quality salt mix with the proper (not augmented) alkalinity and concentrations of major, minor, and trace elements be used to establish natural seawater parameters in the reef aquarium, providing a stable ionic foundation on which to build. All Brightwell Aquatics liquid water care supplements are made with purified water and high purity materials. Complex system of non-pathogenic aerobic and anaerobic microbes, as well as natural enzymes, specifically formulated to establish biological filtration in new aquarium set-ups, and to enhance the rate of nitrification, denitrification, and organic waste degradation in marine and freshwater aquaria through complete nutrient remineralization.Supplied in a state of suspended animation for maximum longevity.Formulated utilizing extensive data compiled by microbiologists. Benefits Rapid reduction of organic carbon, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate. Digestion of uneaten/undigested food, excreta, detritus, and other latent organic material, resulting in cleaner and healthier aquarium substrate Reduction of organic compounds into nutrients that encourage the growth of photosynthetic organisms Greatly-reduced hydrogen sulfide production. Increase in dissolved oxygen concentration. Limits availability of pre-existing phosphate to undesirable forms of algae and cyanobacteria. Increased water clarity. Instructions and GuidelinesShake product well before using. Mix appropriate volume of MicrōBacter7 (see below) with 250-ml (~8 fl. oz.) of aquarium water in a clean container prior to addition to aquarium. If using a pipette to dispense MicrōBacter7 below water level of container or aquarium, be sure to thoroughly clean pipette with fresh water prior to placing tube back into MicrōBacter7 bottle; failure to do so will contaminate the product. Best results may be obtained by adding mixture to external biological filtration system (if applicable). Do not add to pump intake port(s). For best results, use within 1-year of purchase date. Grossly overdosing MicrōBacter7 will not significantly increase the effectiveness of the product, nor the rate at which it enacts changes in aquaria. The following recommendations are based upon extensive testing and will produce the best results in most aquaria.Medium- to High-nutrient Systems, or to seed Biological Filtration in new aquaria: To effectively decrease the concentration of available nutrients and waste material in all marine and freshwater aquaria, add 5 ml (1 capful) per 25 US-gallons (94.6 L) [≈4 drops per gallon (3.8 L)] of aquarium water daily for the first two weeks of use; the impact that MicrōBacter7 has on an aquarium is most evident within this period. Turn protein skimming and UV-sterilization off for a period of 4 hours following addition to aquaria. A noticeable difference in water clarity is typically apparent within 30-minutes of dosing. Follow same instructions for new aquarium start-up. Thereafter, switch to “low-nutrient” dosage (below).Stable, Low-nutrient Systems:To maintain a low concentration of available nutrients in all marine and freshwater aquaria, 5 ml (1 capful) of MicrōBacter7 per 50 US-gallons (189.3 L) [≈2 drops per gallon (3.8 L)] of aquarium water no more than once each week; alternately, add 1 drop per 50 US-gallons daily (or 1 drop per 25 US-gallons every other day). Turn protein skimming and UV-sterilization off for a period of 4 hours following addition to aquaria. Dosage may be adjusted according to perceived benefit to aquarium, however it is recommended that the dosage not exceed 1 drop per 10 US-gallons per day. With time, hobbyists may determine that decreasing the dosage and/or dosing frequency by up to 50% sufficiently maintains a low-nutrient environment. During changes in biological filtration or when increasing the aquarium bioload, dose 1 drop per 25 US-gallons daily for one week, then resume “low-nutrient” dosage.CautionKeep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.IngredientsPurified water, proprietary blend of natural enzymes and non-pathogenic, beneficial microorganisms.Technical BackgroundThe concentration of dissolved and particulate organic materials in any aquatic environment can have a significant impact on the overall appearance of, as well as the health of organisms residing within, that system. Relatively low-nutrient environments are characterized by high water clarity, lack of unpleasant odors, and absence of microalgae and cyanobacteria; this is collectively a result of the lack of nitrogen-, phosphorus-, and carbon-based waste available. Aquaria that are relatively rich in available nutrients have characteristics opposite to the afore mentioned, and are typically not desirable because of the resultant appearance of the system and the difficulty of maintaining healthy aquarium inhabitants.Brightwell Aquatics MicrōBacter7 is a selective complex of extremely effective microbes and enzymes that rapidly reduces the concentrations of organic nitrogen, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, and organic carbon in all marine and freshwater ecosystems, leading to greatly improved water quality; better water quality typically leads to healthier aquarium inhabitants. MicrōBacter7 does not require refrigeration, however storage in a cool, shaded area will prolong the activity, and maximize the shelf-life, of the product.MicrōBacter7 does not require refrigeration, however storage in a cool, shaded area will prolong the activity of the vitamins. (Locals Only) Brightwell - MicroBacter Start XLF - Live Nitrifying Bacteria (500ml)

    12 in stock

Professional 15X strength live nitrifying bacteria for cycling new freshwater aquariums Results in cycling in about 5 to 7 days in most cases Useful for rapidly re-establishing nitrification bacteria in case of an emergency Particularly useful in aquaria with high bioloads and when adding new fish Helpful to re-establish nitrifying bacteria after cleaning rocks or after use of medications. Rapidly reduces of ammonia and nitrite  Prevents “New Tank Syndrome” MicroBacter Start XLF is a professional 15x strength live tank starter nitrifying bioculture for rapidly cycling new freshwater aquariums, and for recovering from overcrowding or disasters where the bacteria bed has been damaged or when adding new fish. It quickly removes toxic ammonia and nitrite naturally through non-pathogenic nitrifying bacterial action.  Even though this product is extremely potent, it may be overdosed at up to 5 times the rated dosage during aquarium upsets.  It should be your first choice to remove ammonia during emergencies where the filter has been inadvertently killed or under overcrowding. Technical Background MicrōBacter Start XLF is a highly concentrated, selective complex of live, extremely effective microbes and enzymes that rapidly reduces the concentrations of organic nitrogen - i.e. ammonia, and nitrite in freshwater ecosystems, leading to greatly improved water quality and much faster cycling. Use of MicrōBacter Start XLF does not alleviate the requirement for regular partial water changes to help maintain proper concentrations of elements that are vital to long-term health and survival of aquarium inhabitants. Notes - It is normal that clumps may form in the product and the product and the aquarium may have an “earthy” smell or smell “off” and the aquarium water could become cloudy and the smell and cloudiness could remain for many hours after using. This is due to the bacteria themselves and is an indication of quality and is the reason it is necessary to shake product well immediately before using. Brightwell recommends that you not use any other type of bacteria product until your cycle with this product is complete. There are no dry bacteria species that will be compatible with this nitrifying bacteria product or that are useful to cycle an aquarium!  Storage - Although product can withstand elevated temperatures for short periods of time (a few days), for best longevity and highest potency, keep below 80°F and if possible, it will be best kept refrigerated at 50°F. Do not freeze! Freezing can kill the bacteria. (This product will usually withstand a freeze or two in transit in the winter, but do not freeze, thaw, freeze thaw.) If the product arrives frozen, then thaw at room temperature, NEVER MICROWAVE! A word about substrates: Most aquarium bacteria and certainly those in MicrōBacter Start XLF live on substrates, that is, they attach themselves to surfaces of rocks, piping and any other surfaces that are available. Most modern aquariums do not have enough surface area. Brightwell recommends that you provide plenty of bacterial surface area by providing addional filtration media, such as Xport biomedia which has the highest surface area per unit volume of any medium in the world, or the less expensive MicroBacter Lattice Medium. Instructions & Guidelines Important: First, use Brightwell Erāse-Cl to completely remove chloramines and chlorine from tap water. Chloramine and chlorine are lethal to the bacteria in this product and if not removed, will cause it to fail! Shake product vigorously immediately before using it. Add the appropriate volume of MicrōBacter Start XLF (see below) to the aquarium in an area of high flow to promote dispersion. Do not use any other bacteria product until cycling with this product is complete! To seed Biological Filtration in new aquaria Add 30 ml (6 capfuls) of MicrōBacter Start XLF per 25 US-gallons (95 L) of aquarium water. Add one or more hardy fish. Remove filter socks, turn UV-sterilization off for the complete period of cycling until you are finished dosing this product. Test ammonia and nitrite levels daily or as needed, if either is above .2 ppm, then you can dose MicrōBacter Start XLF again at a lower dose of 10 ml per 25 US-gallons if desired. At 7 days or longer, Tank is cycled if, and only if, both ammonia and nitrite levels are zero and nitrate is well above zero. If either ammonia or nitrite levels are above zero, then the tank is not yet fully cycled and you should not add fish. if the nitrate is not above zero (at least .25 ppm), then tank is not yet fully cycled and you should not add fish. To replace bacteria killed by extensive cleaning of substrates and surfaces Add 10 to 30 ml per 25 US-gallons (95 L) depending on perceived damage to filter bed, and ammonia level. To replace bacteria killed by medications, overcrowding or emergencies Add 30 ml per 25 US-gallons (95 L) depending on perceived damage to filter bed. Then add 5 ml per half hour until ammonia levels come down. Ongoing care after the aquarium is cycled To provide ongoing biological stability to a cycled aquarium: Switch to FlorinBacter Clean or FlorinBacter 7 after tank is fully cycled and one week has elapsed. This will greatly reduce problems while the aquarium is maturing. At that point you can add Florin Axis to provide a carbon source for the FlorinBacter, and plants if desired.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

Professional 15x strength live tank starter nitrifying bioculture for rapidly cycling new marine fish and reef aquaria and brackish aquariums, and for recovering from overcrowding or disasters where the bacteria bed has been damaged or when adding new fish. Useful for rapidly re-establishing nitrification bacteria in case of an emergency Particularly useful in aquaria with high population densities and when adding new fish Helpful to re-establish nitrifying bacteria after cleaning rocks and surfaces and after use of medications. Rapid reduction of ammonia, and nitrite. Prevents “New Tank Syndrome.” Supplied in a proprietary base which provides for maximum longevity Formulated utilizing extensive data compiled by microbiologists. MicrōBacter Start XLM 15X creates a nitrifying biological filter in marine & brackish aquaria of all types and is particularly useful for new startups, resulting in cycling in about 5 to 7 days in most cases. MicrōBacter Start XLM 15X is a highly concentrated, selective complex of live, extremely effective microbes and enzymes that rapidly reduces the concentrations of organic nitrogen - i.e. ammonia, and nitrite in marine and brackish ecosystems, leading to greatly improved water quality and much faster cycling. Use of MicrōBacter Start XLM does not alleviate the requirement for regular partial water changes to help maintain proper concentrations of elements that are vital to long-term health and survival of aquarium inhabitants. Do not use live sand and particularly DO NOT USE dry seeded artificial live rock. There are no dry bacteria species that will be compatible with this nitrifying bacteria product or that are useful to cycle an aquarium! To use a dry bacteria will only lengthen the time it takes to cycle by many weeks and increase your work by 6 to 8 times! Wet cycled live rock or even previously cycled wet man made rock will work fine. Dry sand is fine to use, but not bagged, so called "live sand." Storage - Although product can withstand elevated temperatures for short periods of time (a few days), for best longevity and highest potency, keep below 80°F and if possible, it will be best kept refrigerated at 50°F. Do not freeze! Freezing can kill the bacteria. (This product will usually withstand a freeze or two in transit in the winter, but do not freeze, thaw, freeze thaw.) If the product arrives frozen, then thaw at room temperature, NEVER MICROWAVE! A word about substrates: Most aquarium bacteria and certainly those in MicrōBacter Start XLM live on substrates, that is, they attach themselves to surfaces of rocks, piping and any other surfaces that are available. Most modern aquariums do not have enough surface area. The advent of artificial "live rock" has made available products made from concrete or plastic that look like live rock, but do not have the porosity, so their surface area is too small to support the number of bacteria needed to properly filter the aquarium. Brightwell recommends that you provide plenty of bacterial surface area, either through plenty of porous natural aragonite live rock, or by providing addional filtration media, such as our XportTM media which has the highest surface area per unit volume of any medium in the world, or our less expensive MicroBacter LatticeTM. Before you get started, you will need An appropriately sized bottle of MicrōBacter Start XLM. At a minimum, you will need 1.2 ml of product for every gallon of aquarium capacity. For example, if you have a 100-gallon tank, you will need a minimum of 120 ml of MicrōBacter Start XLM. The following test kits: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH A bottle of Brightwell Erāse-Cl to remove all chlorine or chloramines (if you skip this, you can kill the bacteria in MicrōBacter Start XLM). Of course, you will need an excellent aquarium salt mix, such as Brightwell NēoMarine and purified tap water. Brightwell recommends the tap water be filtered by Reverse Osmosis with post deionization and that you change your carbon filter regularly. Add the appropriate volume of MicrōBacter Start XLM (see below) to the aquarium in an area of high flow to promote dispersion. Do not use “live sand” or “dry seeded artificial live rock” until cycling with this product is complete for several weeks! (In fact, Brightwell recommends that you do not use dry seeded artificial "live rock" ever. The best choices are aquacultured live rock, rock from the ocean, naturally cycled artificial rock sold wet, unseeded dry artificial rock, dry Florida aragonite, other natural aragonite, Marco Rock and the like. Any rock that already contains a bacteria and is dry, will damage the cycling and in our experience takes too long to cycle and cycles the wrong nutrients - it will not properly cycle ammonia because it is the wrong species of bacteria) To seed Biological Filtration in new aquaria Add 30 ml (6 capfuls) of MicrōBacter Start XLM per 25 US-gallons (95 L) of aquarium water. Add one or more hardy fish. Remove filter socks, turn UV-sterilization and/or ozonation and/or protein skimmer off for the complete period of cycling until you are finished dosing this product. Test ammonia and nitrite levels daily or as needed, if either is above .2 ppm, then you can dose MicrōBacter Start XLM again at a lower dose of 10 ml per 25 US-gallons if desired. • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Potassion - Concentrated Potassium Solution (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Potassion - Concentrated Potassium Solution (500ml)

    12 in stock

Highly-concentrated ionic potassium solution. Provides potassium, an important component of aragonite (the mineral secreted as skeletal material by corals and other reef-building marine organisms), complexed into pigments that enhance blue coloration of some small-polyp stony corals, important to proper neurological function, and depleted in marine aquaria by livestock. 80,000 ppm K; considerably stronger and more economical than competing potassium products. May be used to combat potassium depletion that often accompanies the use of zeolite-based filtration methods employed to maintain ultra-low-nutrient aquaria. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and GuidelinesNote that the natural seawater concentration of potassium is ~399 ppm; maintaining the potassium concentration in marine aquaria as closely to this value as possible is recommended. Basic:Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 50 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the potassium concentration within a range of 390 - 410 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 2,500 US-gallons(9,464 L). Advanced:Determine the potassium concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before each use. Each ml of Potassion will increase the concentration of potassium (“[K+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by approximately 21 ppm. If the initial [K+] in the aquarium is below 390 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 10 ml per 20 US-gallons daily until the potassium concentration measures between 390 - 410 ppm, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Always try to maintain the [K+] within a range of +/-10 ppm. To determine the dosing rate of this product once the desired [K+] has been acquired, measure the daily rate of potassium uptake (i.e. the decrease in potassium) in your aquarium by measuring the [K+] at the same time each day over a one- to two-week period. To determine the daily dosing rate (preferable to weekly dosing) for potassium maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in [K+] by 21; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [K+]. Daily dosing maintains a more stable [K+] (and more natural environment) than dosing weekly, in which the [K+] spikes just after dosing and then gradually decreases throughout the course of the week.CautionKeep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Guaranteed Analysis Potassium (min) 2,366 mg/oz. (80,000 ppm) IngredientsPurified water, Potassium sulfate, Potassium chloride. Technical Background In natural seawater, potassium is a non-conservative major element with a concentration slightly lower than that of calcium (~399 ppm vs. ~413 ppm, respectively). It is a component of aragonite, and regular dosing has, within the past several years, been implicated in improving the blue coloration of numerous varieties of small-polyp stony corals; the benefits of potassium supplementation are potentially two-fold, then: provision of an element that is 1.) incorporated into the skeletal material of corals and other reef-buidling organisms for purposes of growth, and 2.) incorporated into pigments that (presumably in the presence of adequate ionic iron) enhance blue coloration of small-polyp stony corals. The importance of potassium to marine organisms is most apparent when beginning to dose it in aquaria with depleted potassium concentrations and/or in which the sea salt mixture used is potassium-deficient; in such cases, changes in the appearance of many corals may be observed within the first weeks of regular dosing.Maintaining potassium within a range of 390 - 410 ppm is sufficient for long-term health, growth, and coloration of corals when all other physical and chemical requirements are met. The rate at which potassium is extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of potassium-depleting livestock, characteristics of lighting and method(s) of filtration employed, and other biological, physical, and chemical conditions; therefore, each aquarium will have different requirements for the rate of potassium supplementation. Once the rate of potassium uptake in the aquarium has been determined (see opposite), the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated. It is recommended that a quality salt mix with the proper (not augmented) alkalinity and concentrations of major, minor, and trace elements be used to establish natural seawater parameters in marine aquaria, providing a stable ionic foundation on which to build.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - RedoxIclean - Water Quality Enhancer (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - RedoxIclean - Water Quality Enhancer (500ml)

    12 in stock

Immediately correct any "hiccups" in water quality Immediately improves water quality Enhances organic material decomposition Allows for more effective proetin skimming, chemical & biological filtration Safe for use with all fish, inverts, and plants For use in marine, reef, and freshwater aquariums Raises redox potential (ORP) in aquariums Leaves zero residue Perfect for heavily-stocked, heavily-fed systems Formulated by a marine scientist At some point or another, many aquarium owners will face a problem when there is a sudden increase in organic material in the water. This can harm the aquarium's inhabitants, even leading to death in some cases. Usually, people solve this problem by doing a big water change and using special filters to remove the harmful substances; However, these methods don't always work fast enough to prevent injury. Similarly, if many new animals are added to the aquarium at once, the organic material in the water can become too much and make all the animals sick. RedoxIclean is a helpful tool for aquarium owners who want to support the natural cleaning processes in the tank when there is too much organic material. It works by reacting with the unwanted material and breaking it down, so it can be easily removed. Experienced aquarium owners know that unexpected things can happen, so having RedoxIclean can reduce the problems caused by too much organic material and help the existing filters work better. It's also good to check the ORP in the water, especially in tanks with lots of animals, because if the ORP suddenly drops, it's a good indicator there is too much organic material. Instructions for Use Marine Aquaria: Add up to 15 drops (~0.75 ml) per 50 US-gallons (189 L) twice daily at intervals of at least 12 hours, for up to 10 consecutive days. If invertebrates appear to close their polyps or shells, then decrease dosage by 50% and employ for up to 20 consecutive days. Allow at least 7 days before re-dosing. Freshwater Aquaria: Add up to 15 drops (~0.75 ml) per 25 US-gallons (94.6 L) once daily for up to 7 consecutive days. Allow at least 7 days before re-dosing. Before Use: Remove activated carbon from system Discontinue ozone use for 7 days prior to addition of RedoxIclean Wait two days after addition of new livestock before using RedoxIclean Do NOT use Redoxlclean under the following circumstances: in systems lacking adequate latent organic material to react with in systems less than 30-days old within 12-hours of performing a water change of more than 25% of the total system volume in aquaria that are dosed with a "time-release" iodine supplement in aquaria actively employing chelated copper medications in aquaria employing chelated iron for plant supplementation Additional Notes: Use of RedoxIclean of may temporarily discolor water a shade of magenta, which will then become tea-colored as organic material is oxidized; the water will gradually become clear afterwards. Use of activated carbon after dosing RedoxIclean will speed the clarifying process. Do not allow ORP to exceed ~450 mV. To neutralize immediately, add an equal volume of Erase-Cl to the system in an area of high water flow. Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. If in eyes, flush for 15 minutes with water, including under eyelids. If ingested, give large quantities of water. Contact a physician immediately. Wash off of skin immediately; contact with skin or organic fibers will result in a stain. • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Reef BioFuel - Enhances Nutrient Uptake (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Reef BioFuel - Enhances Nutrient Uptake (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview Helps maintain a balanced nutrient-limited marine aquarium by enabling the hobbyist to enhance the rate of microbial growth and reproduction, increasing the rate of phosphate-reduction and denitrification; this is of particular benefit in heavily-stocked, well-fed reef aquaria. Replaces “vodka method” of microbial activity-enhancement with a completely safe and biologically-sound, non flammable alternative to using vodka or ethanol. Indirectly benefits corals and other suspension-feeding invertebrates by encouraging reproduction of bacterioplankton (an important food source for suspension-feeding invertebrates). Encourages polyp-expansion in all corals. May be used to help expedite biological filtration in new set-ups. Instructions and GuidelinesShake product well before using. The main goal of using Reef BioFuel is to provide a source of organic carbon to bacterioplankton, enabling them to assimilate available phosphate and nitrate into new biomass (removing these nutrients from the water column and making them unavailable for uptake by cyanobacteria and algae); the resulting increase in bacterioplankton biomass is then removed from the aquarium via protein skimming and through the feeding activities of suspension-feeding invertebrates such as corals, clams, tube worms, tunicates, sponges, and their respective allies. In this fashion, good water quality is maintained, a food source is provided to many aquarium inhabitants, and a large percentage of the assimilated nutrients are directly removed from the system (via protein skimming). Do not use this product in any aquarium in which active and effective protein skimming is not in use. The skimmer may be turned off for a few (e.g. 2 - 6) hours following addition of Reef BioFuel to the aquarium to enable nutrient uptake and assimilation, whereupon skimming should be resumed; the use of a timer and automated doser to control protein skimming and dosing is a simple and effective means of accomplishing this. Alternately, the product may be effectively employed without turning skimming off at all. Grossly overdosing Reef BioFuel will not significantly increase the effectiveness of the product, nor the rate at which it enacts changes in aquaria; in fact, it may have a deleterious effect on water quality if not used as directed. The following recommendations are based upon extensive testing and will produce the best results in most aquaria; dosage may be adjusted according to perceived benefit to aquarium with time.Medium- to High-nutrient Systems: Add 5 ml (1 capful) per 50 US-gallons (189.3 L) [≈2 drops per gallon (3.8 L)] of aquarium water daily. Monitor concentrations of phosphate and nitrate with accurate test kits; phosphate and nitrate should eventually become immeasurable (or nearly so) when a balance is reached between the rates of nutrient-input and nutrient-assimilation. Thereafter, switch to “low-nutrient” dosage (below).Low-nutrient Systems: Add 5 ml (1 capful) per 100 US-gallons (378.5 L) [≈1 drop per gallon (3.8 L)] of aquarium water daily. With time, hobbyists may determine that decreasing the dosage and/or dosing frequency by up to 50% sufficiently maintains a low-nutrient environment. During changes in biological filtration or when increasing the aquarium bioload, dose 1 drop per 50 US-gallons daily for one week, then resume “low-nutrient” dosage.CautionKeep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.IngredientsPurified water, proprietary blend of ACS Reagent-grade organic carbon sources.Technical BackgroundThe concept of biological filtration is simply to utilize living organisms to remove substances from aquatic systems as a natural result of their respiration and metabolic processes. This mode of filtration is at work in any aquarium system housing live organisms, though microbes (e.g. various types of bacteria) are arguably responsible for the majority of nutrient-remineralization that takes place; oceanographic studies have shown that up to 90% of the dissolved organic carbon present in seawater may be assimilated by planktonic bacteria (bacterioplankton) into new biomass. This nutrient assimilation simultaneously removes nitrogen (as ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate) and phosphorus (as phosphate) from the water, making bacterioplankton a very effective sink of dissolved organic material that would otherwise fuel the growth of organisms such as cyanobacteria and filamentous algae in aquaria.Bacterioplankton are also an important food source for organisms that are able to capture them from the water column. In a sense, utilizing these microbes to control dissolved organic material and then gradually removing the microbes themselves on a continuous basis through protein skimming and the feeding activities of corals, clams, tube worms, tunicates, sponges, and their respective allies, becomes an effective means of nutrient-harvest. Simultaneously, it promotes the health of these suspension-feeding organisms through constant feeding (encouraging polyp-expansion in many types of corals), and promotes water quality. The entire process requires that adequate carbon be present in a usable form. In aquaria with a tendency towards elevated phosphate and nitrate concentrations, an appropriate source of carbon may quickly become depleted. Reef BioFuel provides a source of bioavailable carbon to ensure that nutrient remineralization is efficient and effective.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Reef Code A - Balanced Calcium and Alkalinity System (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Reef Code A - Balanced Calcium and Alkalinity System (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview The calcium-bearing component of a two-part method for dosing calcium and carbonates (the substances largely responsible for increasing alkalinity (”buffering capacity”)) in the same ratio as that found in natural seawater. Ionically-balanced with respect to natural seawater concentrations of calcium and carbonates when used in equal amounts with Reef Cōde B. Benefits reef-building organisms such as corals, clams, calcareous algae, etc. Simplifies calcium and alkalinity maintenance. Stronger than most competing products. Contains no phosphate, silicate, or organic material. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and GuidelinesBasic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 25 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the calcium concentration within a range of 412 - 450 ppm. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 1,250 US-gallons (4,732 L). When used in equal amounts with Reef Code B, the calcium and carbonates being added are in the same ratio found in natural seawater. Do not mix products in the same container; this will cause the active components to precipitate and become ineffective. Allow 60 seconds to pass between dosing Reef Code A and B.Advanced: Determine the calcium concentration in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before each use. Each ml of Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code A will increase the concentration of calcium (“[Ca2+]”) in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by approximately 16 ppm. If the initial [Ca2+] in the aquarium is below 412 ppm, add this product at the maximum rate of 5 ml per 10 US-gallons daily until the desired calcium concentration is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). Note that each aquarium has different requirements for calcium and carbonates (which largely constitute Alkalinity or Buffering Capacity, hence pH-stability); therefore, it is not uncommon for unequal amounts of Reef Code A and B to be required for obtaining and maintaining the desired calcium concentration and alkalinity. To determine the daily dosing rate for calcium maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in [Ca2+] by 16; multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable [Ca2+].Caution: May cause eye or skin irritation. Flush with water for 15 minutes if in eyes, seek medical attention if irritation persists. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Guaranteed AnalysisCalcium (min) 1,774 mg/oz. (60,000 ppm)Magnesium (min) 42 mg/oz. (1,500 ppm)Strontium (min) 36 mg/oz. (1,200 ppmIngredientsPurified water, Calcium chloride, Magnesium sulfate, Strontium chloride, Magnesium chloride Technical BackgroundThis method of calcium and carbonate supplementation is advantageous to hobbyists interested in a simple and effective means of providing the very elements and molecules required for growth of reef-building organisms such as corals, clams, and their allies. Corals and other reef-building organisms require adequate and stable available calcium and alkalinity if they are to thrive, regardless of how perfect the remainder of their environment is. Under most conditions, the mineral that is secreted as skeletal material is known as Aragonite, composed mostly of carbonate and calcium by weight. Reef-building organisms must extract these substances from the surrounding water in order to secrete new skeletal material for growth. By maintaining the same ratio of calcium ions and carbonates in an aquarium as that found in natural seawater, these organisms have the necessary building blocks available in the proper proportions, even if the hobbyist chooses to maintain higher concentrations of these substances. For maximum effectiveness of the Reef Cōde method, the magnesium concentration in reef aquaria should be adjusted to, and maintained between, 1,290 - 1,320 ppm before using these products (alone or together) or any other calcium and alkalinity products. Doing so helps prevent unwanted precipitation between calcium and carbonate ions. Additional information on this subject is available on our website and on the label for Brightwell Aquatics Magnesion. The rate at which calcium and carbonates are extracted from the water is determined by the stocking density of reef-building livestock, type of lighting, and other conditions; therefore, each aquarium will have different requirements for the rate of supplementation. Once the rate of calcium uptake in the aquarium has been determined, the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Reef Code B - Balanced Calcium and Alkalinity System (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Reef Code B - Balanced Calcium and Alkalinity System (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview The carbonate-bearing component of a two-part method for dosing calcium and carbonates (the substances largely responsible for increasing alkalinity (”buffering capacity”)) in the same ratio as that found in natural seawater. Ionically-balanced with respect to natural seawater concentrations of calcium and carbonates when used in equal amounts with Reef Cōde A. Benefits reef-building organisms such as corals, clams, calcareous algae, etc. Simplifies calcium and alkalinity maintenance. Stronger than most competing products. Contains no phosphate, silicate, or organic material. Instructions and GuidelinesBasic: Shake product well before using. Add 5 ml (1 capful) of product per 25 US-gallons of aquarium water every other day or as needed to maintain the alkalinity within a range of 7 - 12 dKH. When used in this fashion, 250 ml treats up to 1,250 US-gallons (4,732 L). When used in equal amounts with Reef Code A, the calcium and carbonates being added are in the same ratio found in natural seawater. Do not mix products in the same container; this will cause the active components to precipitate and become ineffective. Allow 60 seconds to pass between dosing with Reef Code A and B.Advanced: Determine the alkalinity in the aquarium using an accurate test kit before supplementing. Shake this product well before each use. Each ml of Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code B will increase the alkalinity in 1 US-gallon (3.785 L) of water by approximately 2.22 dKH (0.79 meq/L). If the initial alkalinity in the aquarium is below 7 dKH (2.5 meq/L), add this product at the maximum rate of 5 ml per 10 US-gallons daily until the desired alkalinity is attained, then dose daily or weekly as needed (see below). To determine the daily dosing rate for alkalinity maintenance: estimate the volume of water in the entire aquarium system; divide the daily decrease in alkalinity by 2.22 (when measuring alkalinity by dKH; divide by 0.79 when measuring by meq/L); multiply this number by the volume of water in the system to get the daily dosage required (ml) to maintain a stable alkalinity.Caution:Contains carbonate and bicarbonate salts; harmful if swallowed. If swallowed: give water, get medical attention. May cause eye or skin irritation. If in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes, get medical attention. If on skin, wash thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.Guaranteed Analysis:Alkalinity or Buffering Capacity (min) 8,400 dKH (3,000 meq/L)Ingredients:Purified water, inorganic Carbonate, Bicarbonate, Sulfate, and Borate saltsTechnical Background:This method of calcium and carbonate supplementation is advantageous to hobbyists interested in a simple and effective solution to providing the very elements and molecules required for growth of reef-building organisms such as corals, clams, and their allies. Once the rate of alkalinity depletion in the aquarium has been determined, the proper dosing rate of this product can be easily calculated.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Remineraliz - Liquid Freshwater Mineral Supplement (500 mL)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Remineraliz - Liquid Freshwater Mineral Supplement (500 mL)

    12 in stock

Re-Mineralizes Reverse Osmosis, Deionized or Distilled Water for use in Freshwater & Planted Tanks Establishes an optimal mineral balance in water that has been purified or is exceedingly soft Provides a beneficial ratio of potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sodium, and other elements Beneficial to the overall health and osmoregulation of fishes, invertebrates, andmany aquatic plants Great for recreating environments suitable for breeding Replenishes minerals in systems that rarely receive water changes or after a large water change Fish, aquatic plants, and invertebrates need specific elements in the water to stay healthy and survive. Remineralīz is designed based on the latest aquatic research to provide these essential elements. Calcium is important for blood clotting, bone formation, and various processes in fish, while plants need it for cell structure and enzymes. Fish rely on potassium and sodium for proper nerve and muscle function, and plants use potassium for protein synthesis and enzyme activity. Magnesium is needed for chlorophyll production, and sulfur is essential for proteins and growth. Silicon, in the form of silica, strengthens plant cells and helps with root growth and pH balance. It's important to note that total dissolved solids (TDS) and general hardness (GH) measure different things and can't be directly converted. Remineralīz is designed to adjust water chemistry in tanks housing fishes and plants indigenous to nearly every aquatic habitat.* *For fishes indigenous to the East African Rift Lakes, Brightwell Rift Lake Chemie is preferred. Instructions & Guidelines Consult a reference book listing the water chemistry requirements of the fishes and/or plants being maintained to determine the optimal range of GH and/or TDS. Remember to adjust pH and temperature of the water prior to adding it into an aquarium housing live organisms. Determine GH and/or TDS in the aquarium prior to treating purified water with Remineralīz, then follow directions below accordingly. Shake bottle well before each use. To increase GH/TDS in a pre-established aquarium: Dose up to 5 ml Remineralīz per 20 US-gallons per hour until desired GH/TDS value is attained. Changes to water chemistry, regardless of the parameter being adjusted, should always be done gradually rather than rapidly. When preparing water for a water change: For every 10 US-gallons of water to be changed, add 5 ml (~1 capful) Remineralīz to purified water or tap water and mix thoroughly. Assuming a starting GH and TDS of 0, this will result in an increase of ~3.0 dGH and ~86 ppm, respectively. When employed at this dosing rate, 500 ml treats 1,000 US-gallons (3,785 L). When preparing water for a new aquarium set up: Always adjust the water chemistry prior to adding live organisms to the aquarium. If setting up a planted aquarium and placing the plants into the substrate prior to completely filling the aquarium, adjust the GH, KH, pH, and temperature of the water in a separate vessel (e.g. in a large, clean pail or vat) before adding it to the aquarium. Do not add a large volume of purified water to the aquarium and then attempt to adjust the water chemistry afterwards, as this will be stressful to the inhabitants. Use the Advanced Instructions to calculate the amount of Remineralīz that will be required to bring about the desired change in GH/TDS to the volume of water to be used. Advanced Instructions: Each ml of Remineralīz will increase the GH and TDS in 1 US-gallon of water by 6 dGH and 173 ppm, respectively. To obtain a specific GH and/or TDS value, divide the desired change in GH by 6 (or if TDS is preferred, divide the desired change in TDS by 173), then multiply this number by the net volume of water (in gallons) in the aquarium. Example: if the GH in 20 US-gallons is to be increased by 4 dGH, then add 16 ml Remineralīz (4 ÷ 6 = 0.8 ml per gallon; 0.8 ml per gallon x 20 gallons = 16 ml). Caution: May cause eye or skin irritation. If in eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes, get medical attention. If on skin, wash thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children. Ingredients: Balanced monovalent and multivalent cation mixture with appropriate anions and trace minerals, along with buffering compounds to replicate natural waters.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Restor - Liquid Coral Tissue Nutritional Supplement (500ml)

(Locals Only) Brightwell - Restor - Liquid Coral Tissue Nutritional Supplement (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview Encourages health, growth, reproduction, and vibrant coloration. Provides important nutrients to corals and their allies during periods of stress inducedby changes in lighting and/or prolonged exposure to excessive water temperature (often resulting in “bleaching”). Aids in tissue repair after corals have undergone fragmenting and captive propagation. Does not require refrigeration. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and Guidelines Shake product well before using. Turn protein skimmer and other forms of mechanical filtration off prior to adding foods fortified with Restôr to aquaria, and allow 10 - 15 minutes after feeding before resuming operation of filtration. Target Feeding (recommended): Target feeding may be carried out with a lengthy piece of rigid air tubing, plastic syringe, pipette, dropper, or similar device; pour 5 ml (1 capful) into a small container and suck a portion of this into the feeding device, then slowly discharge the contents of the device 2 - 4” upstream of the target organism(s). Repeat these steps as deemed necessary. Rinse the portion (inside and outside) of the feeder that was placed into aquarium water before placing it into this bottle (if feeding directly from the bottle rather than from a separate container); failure to do so will contaminate the product and encourage it to decompose. Restôr may be utilized as a food-soak; to do so, place food into a clean container, add up to 5 ml of Restôr and allow 5 - 10 minutes for food to soak; target feed as directed. Broadcast Dispersal: Add up to 5 ml per 50 gallons of water in the entire aquarium system in an area of rapid water movement every two to three days for the first four weeks of use; thereafter, the dosage may be increased as desired. Notes: Add no more than 5 ml total of liquid food suspensions per 50 gallons of water in the entire aquarium system daily for the first four weeks of use; thereafter, the dosage may be gradually increased as desired. Starting out at a low dosage and gradually increasing it with time will allow the biological filtration in the aquarium to adjust to the increase in nutrients and prevent water quality from deteriorating. This product is best utilized by target feeding specific invertebrates in an aquarium; in doing so, the majority of the complex may be consumed by the intended organisms rather than ending up in filtration media or indirectly impacting water quality (as often occurs when indescriminately “broadcast feeding”). Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Guaranteed Analysis Moisture (max) 99.60%, crude protein (min) 0.30%, crude fat (min) 0.10%, crude fiber (min) 0%. Ingredients Purified water, stabilized amino acids and fatty acids (all of marine origin), tocopherol.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell - Vitamarin-C - Vitamin-C Supplement (500ml)

    (Locals Only) Brightwell - Vitamarin-C - Vitamin-C Supplement (500ml)

    12 in stock

Overview Highly-concentrated vitamin-C solution. Buffered; will not impact pH when used as directed. Stronger than competing products. Vitamin-C is associated with improved tissue growth and with aiding the immune system. Intended to provide benefits to all aquarium inhabitants. Well-suited to use in coral propagation. Requires no refrigeration. Composed of purified water and ultra-high purity ingredients. Formulated by a marine scientist. Instructions and GuidelinesIf using to fortify food (recommended):Place food in a clean container such as a small bowl or cup and add only enough Vītamarin-C to saturate. Allow at least 5 minutes to elapse before feeding, enabling adequate time for the vitamins to become thoroughly absorbed by the food. Liquid food suspensions may be fortified by adding 1 ml (approximately 8 drops) Vītamarin-C per 10 ml of food suspension; stir to mix and allow 5 minutes to elapse before feeding. Maximum benefit of any liquid food suspension is achieved when the food is target-fed to the intended organisms rather than poured into a stream of water and allowed to disperse randomly throughout the aquarium. If adding directly to aquarium water:Begin by adding 2 ml (approximately 16 drops) of Vītamarin-C per 20 US-gallons of water weekly for the first four weeks of use; this corresponds to adding approximately 2 drops per 20 US-gallons each day. Then, gradually increase the weekly dosage to 4 ml per 20 US-gallons over the following four weeks and maintain this dosage. [Note: if using Vītamarin-C in conjunction with Brightwell Aquatics Vītamarin-M, decrease dosages by 50%.] Starting at a low dosage will not cause any harm to the livestock, and will enable you to notice subtle changes in the appearance of the system that indicate the effectiveness and need for the product.Note that doubling the dosage of Vītamarin-C is acceptable when fortifying food meant for organisms appearing to be in poor health, including fishes and invertebrates. Maintain the increased dosage only as long as is deemed necessary, and observe water quality carefully at all times, making adjustments as needed. No medicinal claims are made for Vītamarin-C, however vitamin-C has been consistently observed to have a positive impact on immune systems, in general.CautionKeep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.Guaranteed AnalysisAscorbic acid (C) (min): 1,500 mg/oz.IngredientsPurified water, Ascorbic acid, Buffering agents.Technical BackgroundThe benefits of vitamin-C to aquatic organisms are largely related to improved tissue growth, particularly after recently-sustained injury or illness. Corals and their allies, in particular, have been observed to benefit tremendously from regular controlled dosage of vitamin-C by increasing their rate of soft tissue growth; this aspect is of particular interest to hobbyists and researchers involved with coral propagation, in which coral tissue is damaged during the process of splitting colonies and/or individual polyps. Grow-out systems regularly dosed with vitamin-C also tend to have improved growth rates when compared to control systems with identical environmental conditions. These benefits are believed to be a result of the positive impact that vitamin-C has on the immune system; this benefit translates to fishes as well as to the remainder of invertebrates maintained in marine aquaria.Vitamins are compounds required in minute concentrations for vital metabolic reactions; the amounts of vitamins required for a given species varies. Short-term vitamin deficiencies can typically be tolerated by most organisms, however long-term deficiencies tend to result in abnormalities, poor health, and eventually even death of the specimen. Conversely, if severely overdosed, ingested vitamins can have a negative impact on a specimen by way of toxicity, though the impact is unlikely to be permanent. Decreasing the vitamin dosage typically results in full recovery of the affected specimen. For these reasons, it is recommended that Vītamarin-C be utilized either as a means of delivering vitamins to aquarium inhabitants through food or by direct addition to the water, but not both except as noted on opposite panel when using with organisms that have sustained tissue damage.Vītamarin-C does not require refrigeration, however storage in a cool, shaded area will prolong the activity of the vitamins. Refrigeration will maximize the shelf-life of the product.  Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

  • (Locals Only) Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter CLEAN (500 mL)

(Locals Only) Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter CLEAN (500 mL)

    12 in stock

Complex system of non-pathogenic microbes and natural enzymes, specifically formulated to clean aquarium live rock and decorations. The concentration of dissolved and particulate organic materials in any aquatic environment can have a significant impact on the overall appearance of, as well as the health of organisms residing within, that system. Relatively low-nutrient environments are characterized by high water clarity, lack of unpleasant odors, and absence of unsightly coatings; this is collectively a result of the lack of nitrogen-, phosphorus-, and carbon-based waste available. Aquaria that are relatively rich in available nutrients have characteristics opposite to the afore mentioned, and are typically not desirable because of the resultant appearance of the system and the difficulty of maintaining healthy aquarium inhabitants. Brightwell Aquatics MicrōBacter CLEAN is a selective complex of extremely effective microbes and enzymes that not only reduce the concentrations of organic nitrogen, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, and organic carbon in all marine ecosystems, but make maintenance easy by actually loosening accumulations and coatings. Benefits Natural Cleaning action on all aquarium and decoration surfaces Loosening of ugly accumulations of unwanted substances and coatings, making removal by scraping and vacuuming much easier Establishment of bacterial colonies that multiply and continue to clean the aquarium Rapid reduction of organic carbon, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate Digestion of uneaten/undigested food, excreta, detritus, and other latent organic material, resulting in cleaner and healthier aquarium substrate (without having to physically clean or disturb the substrate) Instructions & Guidelines Shake product well before using. Mix appropriate volume of MicrōBacter CLEAN (see below) with 250-ml (~8 fl. oz.) of aquarium water in a clean container prior to addition to aquarium. If using a pipette to dispense MicrōBacter CLEAN below water level of container or aquarium, be sure to thoroughly clean pipette with fresh water prior to placing tube back into MicrōBacter CLEAN bottle; failure to do so will contaminate the product. Best results may be obtained by adding mixture to external biological filtration system. Works particularly well with Xport. Do not add to pump intake port(s). Turn protein skimming and UV-sterilization off for a period of 4 hours following addition to aquaria. While utilizing MicrōBacter CLEAN continue good maintenance practices such as regular vacuuming, using purified water for additions, and limiting the addition of unnecessary nutrients. For normal cleaning and to maintain a clean aquarium: Add 20 ml (4 capfuls) per 25 US-gallons (94.6 L) [≈16 drops per gallon (3.8 L)] of aquarium water weekly. For problem aquariums or to rapidly accelerate cleaning: Add 30 ml (6 capfuls) per 25 US-gallons (94.6 L) [≈24 drops per gallon (3.8 L)] of aquarium water on the first day, then add Add 5 ml (1 capful) per 25 US-gallons (94.6 L) [≈4 drops per gallon (3.8 L)] of aquarium water daily for 2 weeks or longer as necessary until desired results are achieved. Bacteria work slowly, so full results can take up to 8 to 10 weeks for long neglected sysytems. Caution Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Secure the cap on the container and shake it for about 10 seconds to help start the dissolving process. Remove the cap and fill the container the rest of the way with RO/DI or distilled water. Give the container a few more shakes and then let it sit until all the salts have fully dissolved before use. 2-Part Dosing - Fill a 1-gallon container 1/2 full of RO/DI or distilled water and then add 5-1/4 cups (933 grams) of BRS Magnesium Chloride and 2 cups (332 grams) of BRS Magnesium Sulfate into the container. Secure the cap on the container and shake it for about 10 seconds to help start the dissolving process. Remove the cap and fill the container the rest of the way with RO/DI or distilled water. Give the container a few more shakes and then let it sit until all the salts have fully dissolved before use. Dosing Instructions Knowing how much to dose is made simple using the BRS Reef Calculator! Create a 1-gallon solution by following the Mixing Instructions above and then test your aquariums current magnesium level and using the BRS Reef Calculator input your current and desired magnesium levels along with your total system water volume. Choose BRS Liquid Magnesium Mix (New Pharma Pouch) option from the drop-down menu and select calculate. The result will be how much magnesium solution you will need to add to raise your aquariums water volume to the desired level. We suggest adding small amounts at a time into a high flow area of the tank, like a power heads output or a sump baffle. It is important to keep changes limited to under 100ppm or less per day to not shock your corals. Magnesium Instructions What is 2-Part Dosing? As corals grow they consume calcium and alkalinity but to keep the levels steady in a reef tank requires the use of magnesium too, so it is more like 3-part dosing, to be honest. Reefers will use calcium chloride and soda ash (sodium carbonate) to maintain their reef tanks chemistry daily and add a magnesium supplement every couple weeks. Magnesium supplements are usually a blend of magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate to help keep the sulfate to chloride ratio balanced in the aquarium. When starting a 2 part dosing system it is important to use a good test kit to establish a baseline. We really like using the Red Sea Reef Foundation test kit or Hanna Colorimeters for their accuracy and repeatability which leads to a much more stable reef and overall coral health. Stability is one of the keys to keeping a saltwater tank healthy over a long span of time and most reefers will set up an automated system that doses their aquariums needed additives daily removing repetitive (and forgettable) chore. There are purpose-built dosing systems like the Kamor X4, Neptune DOS, or Bubble Magus T-11 that are super easy to program and keeps everything in a compact package, but there are other options that many reefers prefer like the BRS 1.1mL dosing pumps that can be paired with a digital timer for precise and affordable dosing control.   Localpick up ONLY!!!!! *Discount codes cannot be applied to this product

Aqua SD has been shipping corals country wide since 2007!  All corals are shipped UPS overnight to get your corals to you as quickly as possible.  We make sure to use the best packing materials available, so your corals arrive safely.

You’ll find the largest selection of WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) corals and inverts on our website.  We are constantly updating the site with new and exciting products.  Please make sure to subscribe to our Newsletter to keep up to date for special promotions and releases

All Corals and Inverts are thoroughly inspected and quarantined before they are made available for sale.  We are constantly monitoring these animals and making sure they are getting the best care possible.  Our husbandry staff is always happy and willing to answer any questions you may have.

At Aqua SD, our main goal is to ensure customer satisfaction.  If you have any issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.  We hope to make your reef aquarium full of color and life!
