Dwarf Seahorse
The Dwarf Seahorse thrives in a small, species-exclusive tank and fares best in groups of 4 or more. For solitary or pair maintenance, a 5-gallon aquarium suffices, while a 10-gallon tank suits populations exceeding 10 seahorses. The compact tank size aids in food concentration, necessitating a sponge filter. In a well-lit aquarium receiving over 12 hours of light, the Dwarf Seahorse can breed. The courtship display is captivating, with frequent mating. During courtship, the male flaunts its pouch, performs intricate dances, and undergoes color changes. After mating, the female deposits eggs into the male's pouch as they ascend the water column together. In approximately 10-14 days, the male gives birth to 10-30 fry, which are self-sufficient from birth and consume baby brine shrimp. With abundant brine shrimp feedings, the fry grow rapidly, doubling in size within 17 days and reaching maturity in three months.
